The Blood Prince II: Of Heaven and Hell

Chapter 1
Heaven's Sent a Messenger

A smallish girl with long, pale yellow-blonde hair and sky blue eyes ran down a long white corridor. She wore a long, white silk dress, pale blue slippers, and held a light lavender, hooded cloak around her slim shoulders.

She was out of breath. Her lungs burned from the lack of oxygen. Sweat plastered her fair hair to her youthful face. The only sounds in the corridor were the sounds of her tiny feet hitting the white marble floor and her frantic breathing. She did not stop and she did not dare look back.

She had to get to the gate!

When she spotted two similarly dressed men standing guard by a large set of lavender and blue-green doors she nearly cried out in joy and relief.

"Hurry Chiara! You're running out of time!" one called.

"You have to get there before the demons do or they'll capture you!" shouted another.

As she approached the doors, one of the men caught her as she began to collapse as the other placed a hand on the doors, opening them up.

Before she charged though the doorway, she turned to the man who caught her. "Please. Give this to Luca, my caretaker. Tell him he is not to reveal its contents to anyone. He's the only one I can trust."

She pulled out a folded letter tied with a silver string and handed it to the man.

"I will, my Lady. Now go! Before it's too late!"

She stepped over the threshold and was engulfed in an intense white light.

It has begun, she thought. What happens now is dependent on their choice. They have to help us. They must! They are our only hope for peace.

"Captain Kurotsuchi!!!!!!!" Rin Tsubokura cried out from his chair in front of one of many giant computer screens, flailing his arms franticly.

"Yes? What is it, you candy-eating pest?!" Mayuri Kurotsuchi answered sourly from his place up on an elevated part of the large room, his daughter and Lieutenant Nemu Kurotsuchi standing behind him with a blank look on her face.

"Uh, well, um-"

"Spit it out, you fool!"

"Yes sir! Um, remember when Aizen was sending his arrancars into Karakura Town and we detected demonic spiritual pressure?"

"Of course! Who do you think I am?!"

"Er, well, I-I've picked up the opposite of that."

"What's this? You say you've detected 'angelic' spiritual pressure? That's ludicrous!"

"No! Rin is right! I'm getting it too!" Akon turned aroung to face his Captain behind him.

"Same thing here!" added Hiyosu.

Several other Squad Twelve members aggreed that they had found it as well.

"Lord Mayuri. Do you think that there could be and angel among the Court Guard ranks. After all, Captain Hitsugaya is-" Nemu suggested plainly.

"I know very well what that white-haired runt is! After learning Hitsugaya's secret it's impossible for a resident of Heaven to go unnoticed by us!" Kurotsuchi narrowed his eyes at the numerous computer screens, all displaying the same thing. "No, this is something else entirely."

~The Wicked~

It was a very lucky day indeed for the Squad Ten Captain.

It was the begining of springtime so there was very little head and a cool, gentle breeze was blowing into the office.

He previously had been successful in uncovering all of his Lieutenant's sake stashes, plus all of her drinking buddies were busy with paperwork, what with the past Winter War, so she was stuck in the office doing her work for once.

On top of all that, everyone, even Momo Hinamori(who, thankfully, recovered from her fatal wounds from the war), had accepted, or forgotten or overlooked, the fact that he was the Blood Prince, Daygon, the devil's son.

Yes. It was a very, very, very good day for the little Captain.

At least, that was, until he felt something he hadn't felt in what seemed like centuries.

So there he was, brush in hand(probably dripping black ink onto his sheet of paperwork), staring at a random crack in the wooden floorboards in front of his desk, completely dumbstruck.

"Uh, Captain? Are you okay? You look like you just realized you did all of your paperwork incorrectly." Rangiku looked worriedly at her Captain.

"Angel..." It was almost a whisper.

Of course, Rangiku siezed the opportunity for a good joke. "Why, Captain! I didn't know you felt that way about me!"

With that, Hitsugaya snapped out of it and glared at the busty strawberry-blonde. "No you idiot! I'm serious!" His gaze returned to the floorboards. "I could have sworn I felt angelic spiritual pressure just now..."

"Huh?" Now Rangiku was just as confused. Sure, her Captain was a demon. But he was talking about angels. She seriously considered the possibility that her Captain was ill. Could demons even catch colds? She would have to ask him sometime.

Hitsugaya put his brush down and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "It was faint. But it was definitely there. Someone like me doesn't imagine a thing like an angel's spiritual pressure."

"Alright, I'll bite. What would an angel be doing in the Soul Society?" Rangiku asked.

He didn't answer. Instead, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes narrowed in thought. Should he tell the Head Captain? Not many mortals were able to pick up such a pure source of spiritual pressure. Not without some kind of machine. But angels weren't evil and dangerous like demons were. They were no threat what so ever, as far as he was concerned.

Still...

Hitsugaya rose from his seat and made his way to the office doors. "I'm going to the Head Captain. You stay here Rangiku."

"But Captain! Wait! What's going on?!"

~The Reapers of Death~

Captain Hitsugaya and Captain Kurotsuchi ran into each other on the risen walkways of the Squad One barracks.

"Captain Hitsugaya," Kurotsuchi said, not really greeting him. "As the Blood Prince, you must have found it too then?"

"The angel's spiritual pressure? Of course. There's no doubt in my mind that I sensed it long before your machines picked it up and analyzed it. Not only that, but now I'm absolutely certain that the angel is here in the Squad One barracks."

"Hmm. I see."

Without another word to each other, the two Captains stalked off to the Head Captain's office.

When they entered Yamamoto's office, the first thing they saw was a small girl, no taller than Hitsugaya himself, with palish blonde hair and eyes as blue as the sky wrapped in a lavender hooded cloak.

Hitsugaya blanched as the girl turned and stared at him with an oddly curious look on her face.

"Captain Hitsugaya. Captain Kurotsuchi. You are here just in time. I was about to call a joint Captains' and Lieutenants' meeting," Head Captain Yamamoto said while standing up and grabbing his cane.

"So I assume that she is the source of the spiritual pressure we detected?" Kurotsuchi asked, thuroughly interested.

"You are correct, Captain Kurotsuchi. And the news she has brought with her is the very reason why we must quickly gather together all of the Captain class Soul Reapers of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads," Yamamoto confirmed.

"Take off your cloak," Hitsugaya said to the girl suddenly.

"You have doubts that I am an angel of Heaven? I figured someone like you would know it right away." Her voice was kind and sweet, yet serious.

Hitsugaya narrowed his eyes at her, picking up on the meaning of her words. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Not going to deny it or confirm it? Alright then, I'll let it go. I won't even ask to see what you really look like," the girl smiled sweetly.

Nonchalantly, she reached up and whisked her cloak away from her shoulders, revealing large white angel wings with touches of gold and silver.

Hitsugaya tensed. Her wings...

The girl tilted her head innocently, still smiling. "Is this all the proof you need?"

He took a deep breath an answered emotionlessly. "Yes, that will be all. Thank you."

"Captain Hitsugaya and Captain Kurotsuchi. You are to retrieve your Lieutenants from your barracks and make your way to the meeting hall," the Head Captain ordered, choosing ignore Hitsugaya's conversation with the angel.

It's her, Hitsugaya bit his lip in thought. The angel with silver and gold in her wings...

Little did he know, the angel was having the same thoughts. I wonder. Could he be...?

"Demons should not converse with angels."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(A/N) Ooooh. Creepy! I wonder just who the angel is? And do she and Toshiro know each other? Also, what's this news she has for the Court Guards? This chapter came out differently than I originally intended. This is almost like a second prologue. Yet it's still part of the exposition. See ya next time!
