“Lady come on you stubborn horse get goin'.” Elizabeth -Liz- Willows said as her horse came to a stop and started to graze on grass. Liz yanked up on the reigns and Painted Ladys head came up. Lady looked over her shoulder at Liz as if to glare at her before letting out a whinny. “I know girl, I know. We'll be back at Three Ridge Ranch soon and you can take a long rest.” Liz promised before nudging Lady with her heal and making her move forward. Soon she and Lady were in a full gallop helping to bring in the rest of the horses.
Her black curls were pulled up into a pony tail a white cowboy hat with a black rim sat on her head her green eyes scanning over the horses making sure they were all together and that none were left out. Liz looked down at her shirt, the elbow had been ripped in the brown button down blouse and it was covered in dust from the roads and plains they had gone across. Her jeans were ripped as well and her riding boots were caked with mud.
“Liz, Bring Lady around the front of the gate with the rest of the horses!” Liz's older brother Cacama ordered as he rode past on his horse Renegade.
“Wonder what he wants.” Liz sighed as she rounded up the last few horses. She noticed one was saddled with a English saddle and had a bridle on, it was obviously not one of theirs though. “Must be from the other ranch.” She muttered grabbing the reins and tied it to the horn of the old brown leather western saddle that use to be her fathers. Liz's black and white painted mustang whinnied and tried to bite at the strange horse who tired to bite back.
“Stop it both of you.” Liz scolded as she brought the horses around the front of the stable.
“There you are Bell i've been looking everywhere for you!” A strange girl exclaimed as she came walking up to the horses in a pair of purple high heal cowboy boots, jean and what looked like a designer shirt.
“Is she your horse?” Liz asked dismounting Lady and holding onto Hers and the other girls horses reins.
“Of course she's mine. Who else would she belong to?” The girl said taking Bells reins.
“Um, Okay.” Liz said uncertainly. “My names Liz, I work here full time but I live over on the Moapa Reservation.” Liz said introducing herself as Lady nudged her side and lipped at Liz's ear. “And this is my horse Lady, she hates being left out of anything.” Liz said rolling her eyes.
“My names Rebeca, My dad owns the ranch here and I just came home from a Boarding School over in England. And as you know this little runaway is my Bell of The Ball but I just call her Bell.” Rebeca said with a proud smile as she attempted to mount Bell but couldn't.
“Take off your boots.” Liz told Rebeca and Rebeca just gave her an odd look as if to ask if Liz was serous. “Come on take 'em off.” Liz told her and Rebeca sat on the nearby fence and took off her boots and handed them to Liz. Liz looked at the boots for a second before grabbing hold of the heal and with a small SNAP! Broke off the heal and did the same to the other boot before handing them back to Rebeca who's mouth was hanging wide open.
“You broke off my heals! I paid three hundred and fifty bucks for those heals!” Rebeca said staring at the boots her blue eyes wide her medium length brown hair was tangled probably from chasing after Bell.
“Three hundred and fifty dollars for boots? You're a dude.” Liz laughed jokingly and Rebeca just put on her boots.
“I am not a 'Dude'” Rebeca muttered as she got up and walked over to her horse.
“Ok, ok i'm sorry.” Liz said as she finished laughing. “Come on we can let the horses rest in the stable and we can go grab some lemonade.” Liz offered.
