Freedom… I’ve never been free. Since the day I was born I was a slave and then in prison. A total award winning life, let me tell you. So now I’m a bit lost as to what I should do. I know the stories and stuff, talkin’ about adventures and treasure hunts and things. Thinkin’ about it, I do need the money and it might get me some better armor and weapons.
This works.
Most likely it is some old mine, and mines mean gold and jewels. I’m so going to score. Let the dungeon crawl begin!
Already occupied.
I’m a reasonable person, most of the time, so I thought the people by the fire were as well. I was dead wrong. They attacked me! I did nothing and they all went invisible and attacked me. One even tried to bite me. My first day of freedom and I’m fighting for my life.
I hack and slash at the air and hit one, then another and they retreat a bit. Then I remembered, I can shoot fireballs from my hands. My late owner made me wear an amulet that kept me from using magic but since the castle dungeon was all magic proof, the arresting guards took the amulet. So, I went pyro and just laid waste with all the fire I had.
After the flames died down and I put myself out, I saw the bodies, breathed a sigh of relief, and pilfered them. I got some slightly charred armor and a nice, super sharp knife. That was when I saw what was around the camp fire.
Coffins, lots of coffins.
Okay, now I know that many possibilities exist in the world. Otherwise all the books I’d read wouldn’t have been written. But vampires? Come on! Big ass rats, zombies, death knight assassins and now vampires? Has the world always been this full of crazy stuff? I may have led a sheltered life till now but I thought I knew all the things that I could run into.
I give up. If I let every little thing get to me, I’ll never get all the gold and jewels that await me in these caverns. So I raid the coffins. Lots of gold and very dusty. I decide to go deeper.
It wasn’t long before I met even more vampires, but my fire and new blade helped me mow them down. I wonder if garlic would help. Granted, having just escaped prison I've got none.
The caverns went on and on, deeper and deeper into the earth and at each turn more things to raid and locks to pick. With all the gold and trinkets I can get me a place to stay. It wouldn’t be big, but at least it would be mine. And, if nothing else, I could always get by as a thief after all this practice.
Just when I thought the caves would never end I found something that made me think that I was done for the day.
So not kosher.
I didn’t want to be no sacrifice so I made like the wind and got my low level ass out of dodge before some hidden vampire horde descended upon me. Adventuring might be fun. As long as I can stay alive that is.
It was raining when I finally made it out. It felt good.
I’m so pretty.
Dungeon crawled, vampires killed, and new gear. I think I did good. Now I just need to get my butt to the nearest town for food, a bath and some long needed sleep.
