My new life starts in Cheydinhal. If I remember me geography, as bad as I can be at that, it is nowhere near where I used to live. A good thing, if I do think so myself. The last thing I need is the temptation to find and kil... talk… yes talk, to my late owner’s wife. Such talk might get me sent back to my old cell. Well, maybe not my old cell. Probably the one next to it; one without a secret passage.
Anyway, I started my new life in my new town by cleaning myself up. A good bath and a long overdue haircut.

So pretty

My barber was one of those lizardy Argonians, called himself Bubba. At first I thought that he’d be all thumbs with the sissors, but he was a master. Quick, precise and afterwards he gave me a head massage. His hands were scaley and a bit ruff in texture, but his touch was nirvana. Gentle and slow, the man knows his stuff; he also knows how to work the ears. It was all I could do to not purr right then and there. I can see why he was recommended to me.
With that out of the way, I went to see a man about a house.

Ooooo, so grand.

I was so wrong about how much that house would cost. I only had maybe half of the asking price. Not to worry, there were inns and I’m up to date on lock picking, so in a few days I should have more than enough money. I know that I have to be careful and all but I can’t stay in the inn forever and I would like a better base of operations for my adventuring.

Well, well…

In many of the books I’d gotten to read, abandoned houses are great places for squatting and may sometimes hold hidden treasures. I guess I could do one more small adventure before I head to the inn.

The lock was a hard pick, but after a few tries I finally got it. It also occurred to me that the people around here seemed to avoid this place, even just looking at it. Reasoning this out got me nowhere, so I just ignored the hairs on the back of my neck and went inside.

It was a mess; broken crates and barrels everywhere. I saw a door for a basement, but decided to start with the upstairs.
