After a few false starts I began my oh so action packed story. From how the emperor came into my cell, to how he reacted to me, to the passage. And then I was really careful about relaying the details of the emperor’s request and very sudden death by preventable surprise attack.
I thought my story sounded like some bad novel.
The man proceeded to shuffle some papers and pontificated on the dangers that lie ahead. About how the dark hand of someone or other is reaching into this world or something. I wasn’t really listening, I just kept nodding and going “uh-huh” “right” “I see” a lot. In hindsight, that was probably a bad idea cause the next thing I know…
Who is “he”?
The guy gave me directions and a scroll with the name of the dude I need to find and where he most likely can be found in Kvatch. Just in case I should forget. He also mentioned something about someone who would be expecting me. Seriously? I didn’t want the amulet, and now I have to find some dude. I’ll get to it, I guess, just not today.
For whatever reason, just because I was the last one with the emperor, I’m required to go on some epic journey. Okay, I know I was all excited about getting out and was wondering what adventures awaited me, but I just don’t like the idea of being forced around on a journey I didn’t choose. I am going to find the guy, but I have a job and I kinda wonder if my job might interfere with this task I’ve been given.
If I was older, I'd get drunk at a pub.
