Where thoughts go to think.

Been a long time otaku (if you use that word in a nice way), traveled to many exotic places, been shot at in at least two, and have a habit of writing short stories to pass the time.

Hang around a bit, you might find something you like.

I think I did well. And I do have a feeling I've forgotten to include a book or two.

Apart from that Christmas is approaching and I do wonder what the plan for that day is. Probably spend the morning with a good cup of coffee, Skype with a good friend I met overseas and then visit my grandparents.

Hope your holiday treats you well.

Food day and wine foosball

After a small holiday break I'm back to adventure updates and whatnot. Newest is just up.

Hope all of you who do Thanksgiving day had a good one. I did. My brothers parents-in-law were really good peoples. He and his father-in-law really went at the banter, but according to his wife, that's quite normal.
It had also been a while since my sister and I have been at the same holiday dinner so that was nice. And since the three siblings were together on a holiday, and since there was a foosball table. The outcome was fated.

Opened a good bottle of wine and between our mom and my bro's wife we had two on two games till my sister an I were on the floor in total ROFL mode. I don't usually drink and wine apparently works wonders in the right atmosphere. I did play decent for not having played since, I don't know, maybe middle school. Just don't put me as the goalie and all will be great. i scored a few on my own goal when I was.

The food was what you'd expect from my family. My bro smoked some ribs; my sister made a Brussel sprout dish with mushrooms, bacon, garlic and a Parmesan/Gruyere sauce; Mom was turkey watch as well as bread pudding; I provided extras and managed times. Then there were the staples of mash potatoes and sweet potatoes and rolls. Tasty, tasty.
I need to get that sprouts recipe from my sister. Especially that sauce.

Next holiday is Christmas, who knows whats happening with that.

Happy weekend y'all.

Straighten up and fly right

The Halloween rush of last week

Last week I totally forgot Halloween happened. Between work and the fact that you rarely see trick or treaters around my apartment I woke up the next day going, "Oh, wait... Candy day happened,"

I am so up on the times.

This is always such a busy time for me. From doing work for my military unit to part timing it with either construction or the x-ray lab at the VA, the winter months keep my well and busy.

As for the coming Thanksgiving, I will be meeting my big bro's parents in law. Yes, I know, I should have met them last year, but still, at least I'm getting around to it. That being the case, I need recipes for the day. So if anyone has a good suggestion, let me know.

And to sign off, given that I've been working the night shift and do need so clean my skanky ass before bed, I will link my newest post in my Oblivion adventures. HERE. It had to be made into a two parter because it had too many pictures otherwise. Hope you enjoy.

All the same, take me away. We're dead to the world

Behold...

CORN!!!

To start, the next episode in my characters misadventures is up, here.

Next a recipe I put together. It's a modification on stuffed chicken breasts.

Ingredients:

Enough boneless chicken breasts for each person to have one (I used 6 in mine).
Pancetta, prosciutto or bacon: enought for each chicken breast
ground oregano, fresh cracked black pepper
Olive oil
4 tablespoons of butter (melted)
4-5 cloves of garlic crushed
1 bundle of scallions
Monterey jack cheese, enough for a slice fer chicken breast
1 cup dry sherry, if you have it. If not, mix 1 cup chicken broth, 1 tablespoon red wine vinager, and a shot or two of tequila or vodka (again if you have it).

The cooking part:

Preheat oven to 350

Mix the crushed garlic and olive oil to make a simple rub and set aside.

First thing to do is flatten the breasts (skin side down) till you can roll them three to four times. Once you've got that, rub with the garlic/oil mix and sprinkle them with the oregano and pepper. Then some chopped scallions. Pat them down to help the spices stay. Then add a strip of bacon or your meat of choice. If you have a thin cut you can cover more of the exposed area. Then place the cheese in the same fashion. Roll each breast as best as you can and tie them with cooking twine.

Line a shallow roasting pan with foil and place the rolls in it. Pour the sherry, or broth mix, over the rolls then baste with the butter.
Cook for around a total of 35 minutes, basting with the broth and butter often.

Once done, set aside the rolls and tent with foil to keep the heat. Take the leftover liquid and drippings and make a gravy.
Perfect sides include mashed potatoes or bow-tie noodles.

Serve and enjoy.

The more you know...

Some days I wonder what the game creators were thinking.

Apart from that, life's been quite wet this week with constant rain since Tuesday. Not that that's bad or anything. Up until then it was always in the high 90's. I just hope it lets up before training this weekend. The last thing I want is to be rolling around in a mud pit. I ain't no mud wrestler and have no desire to be.

Also, for those readers out there I am currently reading a unique and very good book called We are all Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler. I highly recommend to anyone who likes life stories. Fowler's way of weaving from memory to memory of the main character is a refreshing style from the more recent books I've read. Be prepared to have a dictionary in hand, as the main character likes to use very big words.
