Soul Calibur 4 Review

Soul Calibur 4 is the latest and greatest in the highly popular fighting series. It now touts beautiful HD graphics, Star Wars guest characters (Yoda 360, Darth Vader PS3 and The Apprentice on both systems) and great online play. This game also has an awesome custom character creator that allows you to customize just about everything facial features, body type, armor and weapons among other things. The equipment editor is great in almost every aspect, with the exception of losing the clothes off your back and falling victim to the Critical Finisher, a new and difficult move to perform, but it doesn't subtract from the great gameplay. When you finally achieve character creating greatness, it is extremely rewarding. These characters you make may also be used in any of the game modes. The game play aside from a few minor changes, like the Tower of Souls, is virtually the same as every other Soul Calibur game. You fight through various stages in one-on-one combat. There is both a Story Mode and Arcade Mode. The Story is five stages of combat with a various number of enemies and Arcade is eight stages with one enemy per stage that you must defeat twice.

Overall I give Soul Calibur 4 a 9 out of 10, because I think there's some room for improvement and I hope Namco Bandai has future plans to continue the series with Soul Calibur 5, so I can give it a 10.
