Writing my "Returner" story is really going to be a learning experience for me. Never before in my life have I done so much research willingly. The way of the samurai and the code of bushido has always fascinated me, but never before have I known so much about it! I really wanted this story to be as accurate as it possibly could be, coming from the perspective of a girl who has never lived in Edo Japan (not that anyone alive today has... except maybe the world's oldest living man, Tomoji Tanabe).
Right now I'm working on reading "The Soul of the Samurai" by Thomas Cleary, which is four translated works originally written by Bushido masters. It's fascinating. I'm also doing a lot of research on the Edo period itself, which is just as intriguing. So yes, I've been spending my entire break doing research on Feudal Japan essentially. Well, at least I'll rock the heck out of those essays I have to do.
