Remember those Street Fighter clips I lead you too earlier? Well, turns out they're apart of an upcoming film! Here's the details:
There hasn't been a damn good Street Fighter anime film that can measure up to the one released in Japan back in 1994. We're talking about the Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie--the one that opens up on the oh-so-awesome fighting scene between Ryu and Sagat in the thundering grass fields.
Thankfully, we have another contender to look forward to: Producer Yoshinori Ono announced during last week's Tokyo Game Show that a full-length Street Fighter IV anime film is currently being produced. The studio behind it is Studio 4C, the folks behind the promo videos. Ono introduced a teaser clip during last week's event, and GameSpot gave out the following details:
The three-minute clip of the upcoming film showed:
"...Scenes with Cammy walking through the woods with a group of troops, Ryu awakening to his dark side, Sakura and Chun-Li fighting together against a gang of thugs, and Crimson Viper fighting against Ryu."
Ono said that the film should run around 50 to 60 minutes, with renowned artists producing. People like Animatrix artist Koji Morimoto and Jirou Kanai, who worked on Steamboy. We're looking forward to this way more than that other movie...definitely. Oh and, just like the "other" one, Ono plans to release the anime film simultaneously with the game's console debut.
Street Fighter IV, the video game, is due out in the first quarter of 2009 for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.
