Haha, I have been posting diligently about my viewing habits since November, so you will read plenty about my thoughts regarding FMA! (Long story short, though, I loved the first episode. Definitely the best I've seen so far this season.)
I'll be really interested to hear your perspective on it, Shin! I'm sitting here wondering about my favorite key scenes and manga plot twists, but I'm curious how the newcomers will feel about it. You'll have to post as you watch~
Alexa said the new series kicked off really well. I was still sleeping so I missed it, but it's sounding like it should be worth checking out. I'm interested enough, I'd say - and remember, it took me a while to get in on the first series too.

Ok, now I'm totally stoked to watch this. I have to ever finish the series though. I guess I'll use my tax return and by season 2 part 2. I love the manga, and I'm glad to hear they redid the styles, that's so exciting!
I remember when I came home one day and you are were like "MAN, RED, YOU'RE GONNA HATE THIS ONE!!!" and I was like "Nyah?" and then ended up sobbing all over my keyboard, haha.
I have only watched a couple of episodes of FMA the series and never really read the manga before.
Thing is, I love Ed and his brother but what kinda started to irritate me in the beguining of every episode they would go over and over again about if you want to use Alchemistry you have to give something back and what happened to both of them in the end when they tried to use it, blah, blah, blah. Every single episode was like that and not only that but the story develops so slowly, like real slow. I want suspense, I want something to get me stuck to the computer screen or something that makes me wonder a couple of times during the day what will happen in the next episode, creating my OWN ideas of what could happen and that didn't happen with all the episodes I've wathed.
So with all of that I guess it never reached the point where I felt interested enough to keep watching it.
I do know that it gets better and has a really interesting plot along the way but I'm a impatient kind of girl, I need something juicy from the beguining to keep me interested., dammit. XD
The same thing happened with series like Prison Break, Heroes and Lost, although none of them are anime shows, all of them has something in common, they sounded interesting, I got curious, I started watching, got addicted for awhile, then all of them started to get really out of juice for me so I lost interest, heh. (No offense to whoever watch this series though.)
Heh, anyway I'm sure you will also feel sad to hear that from me, Shanny was too. Sorry. ._.
But you know maybe whenever I have enough patient I will watch it till it gets me hooked.

Haven't watched the original series (though I plan on watching this!), but Roy's VA is different -- he's played by the awesome Shinichiro Miki now.
Love thy Evangelion.
