- So! I, uh. May have fallen ridiculously hard for Pandora Hearts? I went out to buy some of the volumes yesterday, and after a totally surreal series of events that ended with me trekking across Tokyo, I finally was able to buy volumes 3-5. I plan to pick up 6-8 as soon as possible.
B-B-B-But seriously I love it oh gosh I love it so much. <3 All I ever want out of life is for Oz, Raven, and Alice to [STRIKE]skip through fields of flowers[/STRIKE] annoy the living hell out of each other forever and ever while Break lulz in the background and Jack... does whatever it is that Jack does. Also, as I get further, I am continually pummeled by my love for super-loyal characters. This manga really knows how to mash my buttons.
As for the anime... episode 5 was a bit ehhhh, both in terms of animation and the impact of that particular story, which was an important one for Oz. I know animators are fond of those dramatic moments, but they need to get in the habit of having Oz have as little of them as possible, because Oz never loses it, ever, and it's always for a very specific reason when he does.
And I'm not one to nitpick about taking things out, but my favorite little moment got chopped, which was a little disappointing. And also, every time Raven calls Alice "idiot rabbit," I expect him to follow with, "Trix are for kids." (I KNOW HE DOES IT IN THE MANGA, BUT IT'S SOMEHOW WORSE TO HEAR IT OUT LOUD.) The voice actors are still solid, though. And the opening song is awesome.
- I haven't really had time to watch many of the new season's other offerings, but I've checked out 07-Ghost a bit? Other than me flailing at the plot developments once again (I LOVE ADORABLE BFF PAIRS YOU GUYS, I CANNOT STAND TO SEE THEM SUFFER,) it's... well... it's doing fine, I guess? Again, it's not nearly as pretty as the manga art, and even though they've been accurate so far, I feel like they've messed with the pacing and tone to make it feel a bit more like the standard fare. I can't quite pin down what it is.
Also, Saiga Mitsuki as Teito... she's doing a good job, but she's also doing the exact same voice as she used for Jomy in Toward the Terra. XD I keep expecting him to bust out a cape and fly, guys. It's distracting.
- Leaving late tomorrow to go to Okayama-ken with my family, and I'll be there until Wednesday morning/Tuesday night in the States. We'll see how it goes. As it gets closer, I get a stronger and stronger sense that they have very specific plans and are not sure where I fit into them.
