As the last of the students filed into the room, Matthieu noticed a few of them waiting expectantly. He stood, moved over to the door and closed it. Then slammed his briefcase shut, to get the attention of the remainder of the class. He betrayed his seriousness with a faint smile, and moved around to the front of his desk. Standing up straight, he towered over the front row, and holding his hands behind his back, he began to speak in a deep, clear voice.
"Now, class. My name is Mr. Durant, and I will be your Vampiric History teacher, in addition to your Defensive Powers instructor. It's a pleasure to meet you all. All I ask from you is a degree of respect, and a willingness to learn."
He turned his back on the class to open his briefcase once more.
"I'll wager you've been taught Vampiric History at some point before. I'd also hasten to guess that you find it most uninteresting, and, if I may say so, more than a little dull. It is one thing to simply read and understand history, but, having lived for over a thousand years, I myself have experienced much of it. I will do my absolute best to relay my experiences to you, and where I can, allow you to get as close to the historical events as possible."
