Stirred on by the students' interest, Durant continued with his tale. Even when one of the students spoke up, he welcomed the interruption, and even let out a small chuckle of his own at the comment.
"Ah, but you see, Monsieur...", and, taking a quick glance at the register perched on his desk, he confirmed the boy's name, "Necrosai, that was not all that I did to him. Quite right you are, however - one should not resort to such violent acts unless thoroughly provoked."
Matthieu recommenced with his story, describing how he had been set up by the elder vampire, who had used his wife and son to bring him to their hiding place. He explained how he had been forced to defeat them all to save his own life, and how he struggled with his transformation shortly afterwards, keeping the tooth with him as a constant reminder of that most definitive turning point in his lifetime. Durant was thoroughly pleased that he could offer something more engaging than the textbook drudgery these students were used to.
