Awaiting Adarius' first attack, Matthieu watched him perform with intrigue. Then, feeling the full weight of the boy's fist upon his chest, Matthieu had a sharp intake of breath, and took a step backward.
"Well, what better way to gauge your abilities?" he announced, looking his opponent directly in the eye.
A mist began to form around the two combatants, and the tutor retreated back into it, until he could no longer be seen. His voice boomed and echoed around Adarius.
"A certain amount of respect for your opponent is essential. Only then can you understand their power, measure it, and..." his voice came closer to Adarius as he continued, "... defeat it." At this, he burst out of the mist at Adarius' side, striking the younger vampire in the stomach with his fist. With his other hand, he pushed at Adarius' back, moving him forcefully out of the way, as Durant stood upright again.
