"Hurry up and get to the academy," my mother insisted as I trudged down the steps. I grabbed an apple off of the kitchen counter and nodded my head in agreement. I didn't really want to get there too soon. The girls there were so annoying.
As I left the house, I saw Shichiro Aburame walking down the street. He was a good guy, so I decided to walk with him. "Hey," I said, coming up behind him.
I startled him, making him jump slightly. "Oh, hi, Kai."
We walked the remainder of the way in silence, which I liked. I didn't need to be having in-depth conversations or anything. I was fine being left to my own thoughts.
I took a seat in the middle of the classroom and waited to find out who I was going to be paired up with. Whomever it was better not hold me back. I didn't want to be put in with a bunch of whiny babies.

Today, I was going to be assigned my Genin. I was rather excited about it as I loved working with the kids and teaching them everything I know. There was so much potential, and I just loved watching them grow.
I walked into the lounge where the rest of the Jonin were sitting and waiting to know whom they were going to be with as well. I found Bihn and took a seat next to her. "Hey," I smiled at her.
She looked up from the book she was reading. Icha Icha Paradise. I shook my head; my father read those books. He tried reading them to me as bedtime stories until Mom found out and confiscated them. "Hey," she grinned up at me.
"Excited about getting Genin?" I asked her.

"Hatsu?" I peeked into my twin sister's room, my dark brown hair brushing into my eyes. "We're going to be late. We get new squads." Without thinking about it, I poked the mass that was Hatsume Uchiha. "I said UP! UP! We're Chunnin now. We must be punctual, sister."
"Oi, oi," She answered lazily, "What if I don't want to get up?" This was typical. My dad always said that Hatsu and my mother awoke the same way; lazy and ornery. Of course, mom said the same thing about dad...
"Then you'll have to deal with mom and dad." I said, crossing my arms.
She sat up then, frowning. "...they're scary when they agree..."
"Of course they are." I pulled the covers off of her. "Now hurry up. All Chunnin are supposed to report to the training field."
She rubbed her eyes. "Isn't that where we were as genin?"
"Yes." It was kind of bizarre to me as well. "Still, those are the orders of the Hokage, Uncle Naruto."
"Then why are we doing it? Are they going to make some other test we have to do now?" She made one of those sounds dad makes when he's angry.
"I hope you two aren't making yourselves late..." My father, Uchiha Sasuke's voice filled the room,, and I knew it was definitely time to go.
"YIEK! What if he catches us? You know if he thinks we're late, we'll get it worse than if we really are late." I felt a surge of panic.
"Daddy would never punish me like that." She rolled her eyes, brushing her long, black hair.
I slit my eyes. "You're a spoiled brat, you know that?"
"I pride myself in it." She smirked.
"Just come on." I sighed. "I promise I'll get you cake if you do."
I whirled to see her already at the door. "Two cakes. Let's go."
