The girl smiled as the Academy teachers congratulated the students, or what they are now, ninjas, on graduating from the Ninja Academy.
Her lips were curved into a smile. She brushed her brown bangs back with her hand, revealing her blood red eyes. Her hair was to her shoulder and had a long thin pink ribbon tied loosely to the back. She felt the breeze as it blew her pink ribbon gently touched her pale face on her right cheek where her birthmark was. It was a blood red crescent moon shape that was corssed in the middle with a thin line. The girl had a dark red headband with a metal plate on it tied to her right arm above her elbow. The metal plate had a symbol of a leaf imprinted on it which represented the Konoha sign. She had on a white, sleeveless, tight shirt and a pink skirt that was four inches above her knees and flowing around her legs. She had paper white wrappings around her left arm from her wrist to her elbow and on her legs mostly hidden under her skirt. She had on a pink glove with no tips on her right hand and thick, dark red, leather shoes on her feet.
She smiled at her brother towards her brother standing next to her and held her smile. If he had a tail it'd practically be wagging a lot right now. She giggled at this thought.
This is so nostalgic, she thought to herself, remembering when her, and her three best friends Kya, Mikalana, and Rose, graduated from the Academy as well. Sure they were seven at the time, and they were one of the top students. She remembered how mad Kiba was when she graduated before he did. He tried to give her the cold shoulder. It really disappointed her, because she loved her brother so much, she hates not talking to him. She used her special trick, fake tears. He tried not to give in but the whimpering caused him to end up tackle hugging her saying he was sorry for ignoring her.
The girl laughed causing her brother to turn his head towards her.
"What's so funny, Kyoma?" he asked smiling at her.
"Oh, it's nothing, Kiba." she said smiling back at him.
"Oh, come on tell me Kyo." he pleaded trying to keep a quiet voice.
"No, I'm just so happy for you, that I feel like crying right now! I mean my brother, the one they called troublesome, graduating from the Academy? It's so kawaii!" she said giggling.
"Oh, come on, you weren't all that good either. Remember when they used to call us the 'troublesome two'?" he asked smirking at her.
"Yeah I remember." she said smiling. Back when they were ten, they used to always pull pranks on some of the villagers whenever Kyoma came home from one of her missions. They even pulled one on the 'Mister Attitude' guy, Sasuke Uchiha, who always gets girls to somehow go ga ga for him. She even spotted her friends drooling over him when they first saw him. She was relieved when they pulled a prank on Sasuke, he nearly lost his cool and she was glad to know he wasn't perfect like the way he seemed. I don't get why most of the girls are so high over heels for him. I mean, he's cute, but he rejects every girl that confesses to him, and tells them that they're weak and that they'd be a burden to him. I mean, come on, I wouldn't at all be surprised if he went crazy for power or something.
The people around them started chatting. Kyoma shook her head from her thoughts and looked around, noticing that Kiba wasn't there.
"Kiba?" she said looking for the white fur of his dog, Akamaru who usually sits on the tope of his hooded head.
"Oni-sama!" she tip-toed to see over the heads of the villagers, but she couldn't, she was still too short! Dang my body's resistance to getting a growth spurt. IT was ture, she was short and had a flat chest. Most of her friends already grew..but she still stayed the same She walked out of the crowd and sighed as she looked up to the sky.
"Man Kiba where are you!" she yelled out to the sky. A few heads turned towards her but she didn't care.
"Hey is that him?" Kyoma immediately turned towards the direction of the voice ans saw two women talking to each other while looking past Kyoma. She cocked her head slightly wondering what they were talking about.
"Yeah that's him. The only one that failed." the other lady said. Their eyes looked familiar. Eyes that sometimes aimed at her. They were cold, as if despising whatever they were directed at. She hates those eyes. But this time they weren't towards her. Kyoma turned around to see who they were talking about.
Her eyes shifted to a boy on a swing. He had blonde spiky hair and whisker marks on his cheeks. He wore an orange jumpsuit. His face looked familiar too, as if she'd seen him somewhere before, or in a past life. And his ocean blue eyes...they looked the same as her, full of pain and loneliness.
"Serves him right..." Kyoma heard the first lady speak. "Can you imagine, if they let someone like that become shinobi?!"
What do they mean by 'someone like that'? Kyoma thought as she was getting curious of this conversation.
"I mean think about what he is-"
"Don't even go there!" one of the ladies cut the other one off.
What is he? Kyoma started walking towards the boy to introduce herself and find out more about him, and the reason his eyes were like hers.
"Kyo!" Kyoma nearly fell back as she heard her name being called out. She turned to see Kyazuri running towards her. The Konoha headband hanging on her neck was jumping along with her slim body. Her dark blue hair was parted a little more to the right side of her head covering her night colored eyes. A small, beautiful, bright green butterfly floated around her sandy colored arms and around her long thin legs that were covered with dark blue sandal boots that went up to her knees. The right sleeve of her dark blue shirt was long and a bit looser around her wrist. The left sleeve was an inch strip showing the rest of her arm. The bottom left side of her shirt was shorter than the right side and showed the black undershirt she had on. The right side covered her short black shorts that were that were a little above four inches. Her lips were pulled up in a shy smile as always.
"Hey Kya!" Kyoma said excited to see her best friend. "Awesome Right?! Our brothers are finally shinobi!" she said jumping up and down eagerly.
"I know! I could tell Shino was excited, he started talking to himself a lot.
Kya's full name is Shy Kyazuri Aburame. Her brother is Shino Aburame, who is very mysterious and always has these shades on. Her and Kyoma had been best friends since they were seven, when they first met at the Academy. They stuck together like glue, well, after Kyoma stopped some orange haired girl form picking on Kya for being so quiet. Her name Shy fit her perfectly. Everyone called Kya, Shy, because around other people, that's what she is. She can only be herself around people she knew really well, like her, Rose, and Mikalana. Rose and Mikalana were also best friends with them, and they were twins. The only difference is that Rose had silver hair, and Mikalana had black hair. But Rose left the village a litte while after they all became Jonin. No one knows where she went off to. Mikalana left after that, back to her and Rose's home back in the Sand Village.
"By the way," Kyazuri said jumping in front of Kyoma, "Hokage-sama has asked. He says he must speak to us about the new graduates."
"About what?" Kyoma asked her with a stern look.
"I don't know.." she said, dragging her 'I'.
"Okayz, then let's go." Kyoma said smiling.
"Yeah." Kyazuri smiled back and sped off. Kyoma looked back at the swing, the boy who sat there was now gone. She stared at the swing for a second and shook her head as she sped off after Kyazuri.
"Kya, wait up!" Kyoma yelled, jumping from roof to roof behind Kyazuri. Kyoma looked past Kya as she was a few inches closer to her. The big, round red building, known as the Hokage's building, was getting closer.
Kya's as fast always. Kyoma thought to herself, still running beside Kya. That's what you should expect with one of the best ninjas that use taijutsu. Sure, I love fighting hand to hand combat, but I still find ninjutsu and genjutsu better. Then again, I have to be really good in all of the shinobi skills if I wanna be the best kunoichi in Konoha! I didn't graduate at age seven for nothing!
Kyoma smirked and put more chakra into her feet with the next step. She could feel the burst of energy in herself as she sped up. She looked up in front of her and noticed that the red building was getting closer. She tried slowing down but ended up tripping on her own feet and falling on her face.
"Oww.." she muttered as she sat up rubbing her nose since it hit the ground with more force.
"Oh that's gotta hurt." She heard Kya stop next to her. "What happened? You were right next to me and all of a sudden you're gone. Then I find you flat on your face right in front of the Hokage's office." Kyoma could hear the laugh that Kya was trying to hold back in between her sentences.
Kyoma stood up and breathed in deeply holding back the pain in her nose. She smiled and looked to Kya who wasn't succeeding in keeping a straight face. "Go Ahead." Kyoma said sighing a bit.
Kya bursted out laughing, as if she was holding it in for years. "O-oh my gosh! Haha!" she held her arms to her stomach.
"Almost done?" Kyoma asked smiling. She felt like she was about to laugh too.
"Yeah. Hold on!" Kya laughed more for what felt like ten minutes and then stopped. "Okay, okay. HeHe, I'm good." She wiped a few tears from her eyes that probably are from laughing so much.
This happened every time Kyoma tripped or did something really clumsy, which was a lot.
"Ready?" Kyoma asked smiling again as if nothing happened.
"Yeah." Kya was now calmed down and held a smile too.
Kyoma turned towards the door in front of them, she didn't even remember tripping all the way up the stairs! She banged on the door taking it out of her mind. "Hokage-same! It's us!" She yelled through the door.
"Come in." the voice of an old but still strong man came from behind the room. Kyoma turned the knob and swung the door open. She leaped to the front of the desk that was near the end of the room.
"Hi hi Hokage-sama! So what is it? Huh? Huh?" She was looking at him both eagerly and curioiusly. Kya giggled as she walked up beside Kyoma.
The old man cleared his throat and looked up with her with peaceful eyes.
"As you know," he said closing his eyes, "we have new gennin, two of them are your brothers of course, but only nine of all the graduates will become gennin. You remember this of course from when you graduated." He opened his eyes once more upon them as they nodded. At this he continued. "I want you two to assist their Jonin leaders. You will be second in command and in charge if the original leader is, lets say, remarkably late." He paused as if waiting for them to respond and continued as they said nothing. I hope I get to assist the sensei of my brother. Kyoma thought with hope.
"Kyoma you are to assist Kakashi Hatake. You have worked once with him in one of your missions am I correct?" she noded. He was awesome! This will be fun! She got excited and started dazing off as the Hokage continued. Kyazuri, you are to assist Asuma Sarutobi, my son." Kya nodded smiling that she also might be placed with her brother.
"You are to meet with your gennin team the day that they are placed with their group, which should be in two days. I recommend that you go when they are placed, so you can learn about them." Kyoma's head popped up remembering the one person he left out.
"What about Blaise?" Kyoma and Kya said in unison wondering the same thing. Kyoma was a bit worried because she had not seen him at the graduation ceremony and was sure he'd be there to tease her brothe Kiba on graduating. Why hadn't he even crossed my mind at least once?!
Blaise was one other person who graduated at the time they did. He was on her's and Kya's gennin team. He had also become a Jonin, but only a year after they did. He was always the clown. He was Kyoma's only guy friend, and was almost like a brother to her. He also love to tease her and Kiba, it'd probably be one of his main hobbies. She hadn't seen him often and he left on a mission a few months ago. She was sure he'd be back by now.
"Oh yes, I already spoke to him today. He left on and urgent mission this morning as to why he did not make it to the gradutation ceremony if this is what caught your mind." Kyoma smiled innocently to hide that she did think that. Hokage-same is awlays the one to know what you're thinking... He will assist Kurenai." Kyoma's eye twitched. One big mistake! Putting him in the same group as an older woman!? Another thing that Blaise was known for, was being a pervert. Of course he's a bit oblivious with it but he still is one. Kyoma sighed letting it go and looked back up at the old man. "Okay then." she smiled.
"You are dismissed." he said nodding.
"Hai." they said. They turned towards the door, excited about the day to come.
"Oh and Kyoma." the old man's voice rang. Kyoma turned her head back. "Good luck." he said smiling. Kyoma looked at him with a confused face and smiled.
"Umm..arigato." she said and headed out the door with Kyazuri.
~******~
"Oh I can't wait to meet the famous Kakashi Hatake!" Kyoma sang as she skipped happily beside Kyazuri. "And I hope I get Kiba's team as well." she said excintingly.
"I hope I get in Shino's team." Kya said smiling at Kyoma.
"Yeah! If I get Kiba in my team it'll be fun, I haven't hung out with him a lot since he had to go to the academy and I was always busy with missions. But if I get in his team, we'd get to spend more time together." she said smiling. She skipped again becoming more excited. Kyazuri laughed and skipped along side her.
Their skipping went into a pattern, Kyoma was ahead, then Kyazuri, then Kyoma, then Kyazuri, until they started running instead. They giggled and both ran faster. "I'm so gonna win!" Kyazuri said as she got a little ahead.
"No your not." Kyoma mumbled and caught up to Kyazuri. They ran at a faster pace, making sure not to stumble on the roofs. Kyoma got a little ahead and smiled to herself.
"I'm winning!" Kyoma yelled getting faster.
"Woah!" she felt herself hit against the hard floor, more like the roof.
Kyazuri ran to Kyoma.
"Are you okay?" she said bending down towards Kyoma. Kyoma pushed herself up and rubbed the back of her head.
"Yeah, I'm okay." she said smiling. Except for my new headache that's throbbing like crazy
"Man, Kyo you should have seen yourself, and you were so close to winning, too." Kyazuri said smiling as she stood back up.
"What do you mean close to winning!?" Kyoma yelled. "I won!"
Kyazuri laughed and so did Kyoma after her. They got quiet and sat on the edge of the roof as the sun was already beginning to set.
Kyoma looked down.
"What's wrong, Kyo?" Kya said as she saw Kyoma looking dazed.
"I don't know." Kyoma said still looking down. "It just feels like," she paused thinking of how to say it, "Like everything's about to change." She looked to Kyazuri and smiled sadly. "Sometimes I wish, that I knew what was going to happen, so I won't be worried all the time." Kyoma said.
Kyazuri looked at her and gave her a slight hug. "Hey, it's gonna be alright." she smiled at Kyoma. "If anything happens, it happens for a reason."
Kyoma smiled at her and then stoof up and gave her a thumbs up. "Yeah and if anything happens me and you will never be seprerated!" she was laughing now and realized that what she was was now a promise, and she intended to keep it.
Kyazuri looked up at her and smiled. "Yeah.."
