Yuki is half Japanese and half Vietnamese. She was born to a Vietnamese father and a Japanese mother. She was raised lovingly until she was 5 years old when her and her parents were in a horrible bus crash. Her mom went into a coma, her dad had a broken leg and she has a broken arm. When they healed her mom still wasn't out of her coma and her father wouldn't let her see her mom. He became an alcoholic and would beat her every night after he came home from work. This went on till she was 8. Some of her friend's parents saw her father beating her and called the police. She was sent to a Foster home which happened to be American. There she stayed till she was 16. She met a man named Dale Hanamara, who she slept with and got pregnant. He married her to cover it up, but she miscarried the baby.
He divorced her and took the house and money he had given her, and left her on the streets. Her foster family lost track of her and they couldn't help. On her 17th birthday her ex husband came and gave her their old house and some of the money back. She was able to get a job and live happily for 2 years and she made many relationships with many good friends. Including a small single mother named Clair who had a daughter named Meji. Yuki was made the legal guardian of Meji after Clair found out that she had lung cancer.
Around Yuki's 19th birthday she was in bed and heard a large ripping and banging sound from her front room. She rushed to her front room to find an unknown young man there with a sword. He spent the night with her and ended up spilling allot of his life story, and she decided to protect him. The next day, Yuki's friend Daisy who was a engineer and studied space and time found that the move that the boy had preformed with his sword had hit a soft spot in the barrier for space and time and ripped right through it. When he readied to go back to the 1800s, at the last moment before performing Shukuchi, he grabbed Yuki and took her with him. once back at in Japan, 1800s, Yuki met Shishio, Yumi, and the rest of the Jupungattana. She learns from Kamatari and Soujiro how to fight and then begs Soujiro to take her back home after finding out she needs to take care of Meji because Clair's new husband just died and she needs to move to America to find a job.
Soujiro agrees and takes Yuki back to her time, but Shishio and the rest of the Jupungattana also come seeing it as an opportunity to see the future and gather weapons of all sorts. When they all get there they end up staying for 4 months and when its time to go back the soft spot has healed and everyone is stuck with Yuki (Who has been fired from her job for not showing up for 5 months) and the quest to find a way back to the 1800s began.
About Yuki's foster family: She had two brothers named Jake and Andrew, and a sister names Maria. They were all older then her and she ended up building a very strong relationship with Maria and the two foster sisters are like best friends now. She is close with her foster brothers also but she doesn't have a very deep relationship with her and never stayed in touch with her after she left the house. Her foster mother and father she is very grateful too and loves them very much but misses her birth mother.
About Yuki's birth family: When Yuki was little she loved her mother and father, but when her father turned to beat her she found a very soar heart for him. She has not yet forgiven him. Her mother she knows nothing about and never knew if she finally died in the coma or began to wake up.
About Yuki's Ex-Husband: Dale Hanamara was never seen again after he gave Yuki the house and money. No one knows why he did it or where we went afterwords. Some say he went back to his families house in America, and other groups of Yuki's friends think he committed suicide. His family was contacted in 2008, and they said he had not been seen since he gave away his house and a good sum of his money, but that wasn't unusual for him. In early 2009 his family put out a missing report.
