Caption Battle (MMM): Watched Phone Never Boils...
"It's that time again..."
"To wish the PS2 a happy birthday?"
"To watch Bobby Kotick as the flames rise?"
"No... it's time for March Member Madness!"
But first, last week's winners:
In third place, because Vic's style is not everyone's style: akari yasutora!
I think we'd all be upset if that happened to our pants.
In second place, because it was plain funnier than others: TimeChaser!
Vic is trying to run from the fangirls, but what we don't see is his ankle chained to the table.
And in the coveted first place, because often is it hard to say "velociraptor" without smiling... Ace!
Vic Mignogna tries to explain to his fans that he turned down the chance to reprise his role as Edward Elric in the new Fullmetal Alchemist series in favor of another show, wherein he had the chance to play a velociraptor.
Good week, guys! Wasn't a huge turnout, but those who came to play left a lot of good suff, so I'll consider it a win.
Alright, so this week we officially enter March Member Madness(TM)! First up is the very image that kickstarted this idea in the first place: the photographer is probably Kastom, and the location is Youmacon 2009 in Dearborn, Michigan. Girls in the picture are (from left to right), Nehsriah and Katana. Give 'em a try:
You know the drill: type up the funniest, wittiest, most original caption you can think of for the screencap above in the comments below. Also, if any of you would like some tips on writing a great caption, you can find those here.
And like always, theOtaku is open to all submissions and suggestions for weekly feature content - especially this month, with March Member Madness(TM) upon us! You have a screencap you want used, you can PM me and we can do somethin' about it. So good luck, and remember: just because they're not blood relatives it doesn't make the decision any easier.

theOtaku.com Anime Podcast VII - Ep. 19
Dude, yes downtown and the like is crowded like mad in Vancouver and roads are closed for walking space. And y'know what? It's all our people. I was downtown right after the hockey game (which was also amazing), and that was the craziest party ever! I've never seen so many happy Vancouverites in my life. In my LIFE. Vancouver is the most diverse, divided city I know - we hate each other for one reason or another. And y'know what? We came together finally, and it was awesome.
Also, totally bring back Chigo. We'd be game.

Caption Battle: What Did You Just Call Him?!
"It's that time again..."
"To believe together we'll fly?"
"To believe in the power of you and I?"
"No... it's time for this week's caption battle!"
But first, last week's winners:
The bronze medal, for probably catching me on a good day for simple snerking: Sakaki Sakura!
.....Well, that's just silly.
The silver medal, because Hisaishi apparently screwed the pooch with the screencap specs (and left me to take the guff for it): KCHuang!
The real reason the girl has a sweatdrop is not because she's feeding a giraffe that somehow made it through the gym doors, but because SomeGuy got her name wrong.
It's Yakumo, dammit! YA. KU. MO.
And receiving the gold medal for singles Caption Battle, because I was in the mood for cheesy puns... xfishyx!
It could be worse, it could be a cheetah.
I now present your Caption Battle champions! And yes, I am just that fickle sometimes.
So, it's not quite March just yet, but I'm in the mood for some live-action screencaps. So here's a part-way on the road to March Member Madness(TM)! The photo comes courtesy of schultzie from... Anime Central in Rosemont, Illinois? Gentleman in the photo is Vic Mignogna; he's somewhat famous, and the story I got to explain this photo was amazing... but that's for another time. For now, you know what to do:
You know the drill: type up the funniest, wittiest, most original caption you can think of for the screencap above in the comments below. Also, if any of you would like some tips on writing a great caption, you can find those here.
And like always, theOtaku is open to all submissions and suggestions for weekly feature content - especially this month, with March Member Madness(TM) coming up! You have a screencap you want used, you can PM me and we can do somethin' about it. So good luck, and remember: Curling is an amazing sport - never forget that.
Caption Battle: March Member Madness Reminder!
It's only a week away! Don't y'all be forgetting that I need pictures, now. We're gonna do something hilarious, and it requires images from your site meet-ups!
Caption Battles: March Member Madness
(Anomaly (again) at Anime Evolution 2009 in Vancouver, BC)
Copy-pasta (mostly) is as follows:
I want to see you in the caption battles! Share your pictures from your convention meet-ups, get-togethers and let us pretend like we know what you're thinking or saying! It's going to be live-action caption battle all through March!
There are only a few guidelines I need you guys to follow:
1. Make sure everyone in the photo is okay with being used for this! If I'm even slightly iffy that someone is unhappy about being featured, I will drop the picture.
2. Everyone featured in the photo should be a member here at theO (background types don't matter).
3. Tell me who the members are and what event is going on (if it's a convention or other similar event) - most likely, I'm more interested in convention meet-up type pics anyway.
4. Make sure it's something to which we can actually write captions!
So yeah. If you think you have a hilarious photo with some folks that you wanna show off, then PM me with a link to it (an online hosting service is again ideal). Our top favourite pictures (including one very special one I'm saving for the end) shall be the ones over which our captions shall do battle.
So if we do indeed use your picture, what will you get? Well, nothing expensive, that's for sure - just mad props.
But mad props are great, so it's all good. Mad props are worth the same as conflict diamonds on the internet, y'know.
Unless you want another Rozen Maiden month? Or K-On! again, that was fun too...
So, who wants to play?
