Introducing Your Own Personal Trophy Case
You'll notice two things when you visit your personal portfolio today:
First, the avatars for your friends will load much quicker, over 10 times quicker than before.
Second, and more importantly, you now have a personal trophy case. Here's how it works:
Each trophy corresponds to your activity on a different part of theOtaku.com. For example one trophy is dedicated to fan art so the more fan art you submit and get approved, the better the fan art trophy you'll receive.
The order for trophies is:
Blank (no or little activity), Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Ruby.
One day I hope to see a member with a full ruby trophy case. Who will be the first?
Strange New Title Sighted
One of our members, SabrinaM, emailed me today in a panic:
Adam! My title has changed to something...strange. What's going on? I've never seen a title like this before. I'm scared, Adam, scared for what my destiny is to become.
Angels in theOtaku...what does it all mean? I will start investigating and report my findings soon.
Who Wants To Be A News Editor Contest
Do you have what it takes to scour the internet, find interesting news items, and quickly summarize and link them for our audience? Let's find out.
We're looking for a news editor to join our small news team. If selected you'll get the ability to auto-submit news, a shiny team title, a direct line to myself, and the ability to approve news stories sent in by other people. In return we ask that you submit 1-3 interesting items per day.
Don't email us, to try out, submit as many interesting news items as you would like by February 20th. Our two news editors (Dagger and Kei) will judge and pick a winner who will join the news team. To be in the running you must have at least three news items approved by our news team by the deadline. Remember that not everything submitted goes through.
Here's what we look for:
- Impeccable grammar and spelling
- Ability to find unique and interesting items that gain lots of comments
- Are on theOtaku a lot anyway

Server Change Testing
We've changed our server architecture a little bit. This should result in a faster site but you might see some oddities here and there from the changes. Please use the comments on this post to report any you stumble upon so we can quickly fix them.
For example you might submit a comment and it might not appear instantly. That's one example of a server oddity. Please report anything new like that.
