Otaku Attraction: Beautiful Chaos

It's Friday and you know what that means. It's time for another Otaku Attraction for the masses.

Thanks to those that sent a video. They were all great to look at.

This week's video comes from good old Toki TimeChaser features an anime classic: Sailor Moon. "Soldiers of Chaos" takes some of the more sentimental and powerful moments of the series and sets a slightly heavy tone with music by Coheed & Cambria (the song title is "In Keeping Secret of Silent Earth", if I'm not mistaken). Footage is a little grainy at point, but tolerable. And besides, it's Sailor Moon. Come on.

And that's all for this week. Got a Thanksgiving-themed video (or any video, for that matter)? Send it to [email protected]. See you next week!

Caption Battle: Work Was Murder...

"It's that time again..."
"To remember that if it bleeds, we can kill it?"
"To protect John Connor?"
"No... it's time for this week's caption battle!"

But first, last week's winners:

In third place, just being straight-up cheeky: TimeChaser!

Shinji Ikari: spokesman for Hung Beer.

In second place, taking a simple line and marrying it perfectly to the faces: DarkFox 013!

Shinji: Misato! I just wanted to tell you I love you!

And in the coveted first place, somehow being cute yet crass all at once... Shinmaru!

Misato: "Aw, Shinji, I'm happy to see you, too."

I gotta say, this week had some darn funny stuff. Good job, childrens; let's keep it up!

This week's screencap comes from ye olde archives, and features the series Gunslinger Girls. Said girl in the picture is Henrietta, other guy is a nameless mook. Have at thee:

You know the drill: type up the funniest, wittiest, most original caption you can think of for the screencap above in the comments below. Also, if any of you would like some tips on writing a great caption, you can find those here.

And like always, theOtaku is open to all submissions and suggestions for weekly feature content. You have a screencap you want used, you can PM me and we can do somethin' about it. So as the immortal Al Bundy always says: let's rock.

theOtaku News Landing Sunday

News will gloriously reappear on theOtaku.com this Sunday, the day after tomorrow. The anime/manga/video game world already has a wealth of amazing news sites, so rather than duplicate their functionality, we're going for a different approach.

Our goal with news is to facilitate discussion and community more than anything else. Like fark and digg we're not going to burden our editors with having to write long posts, but will instead emphasize simple links, funny headlines, and comments.

News will be integrated into our main page as well to give the site a fresher feel every day. We're also going to continue our old tradition of associating members' fan art with each story, giving them an avenue for more traffic and visibility.

Keep refreshing the site on Sunday because, suddenly, theOtaku'll be one section bigger.

Gail's Reviews: 3rd Week of November

As always, just passing on words of wisdom from the authentically Japanese staff member (as opposed to the fake ones)... that she also happens to be the one who gets sent all the review DVDs is purely a coinciden...
