Tales of Okuri Tale 2 of 7 Beauty and the Beasts

And they didn’t stay in one place. No, they jumped all over the place. Changing direction everytime one of them started retreating, they were everywhere. As they left Okuri’s range of sight, he chuckled to himself. “Kiba, Kiba, Kiba……if that’s your idea of courting, no wonder you needed my help.” Memories flowed back, memories of when he was the same age, and did the same thing to another poor girl, who must’ve had the fright of her life that night. No, she didn’t show any interest in him and he, depressed as he was about it at the time, gave up on her. Life was so different when he was capable of true love….

2 hours of fighting passed. In this time, the combatants had moved several kilometers from where they began. Fighting Kiba was even more exhausting than running away from him, and he managed to make a few cuts. Still not giving up, Inuko swung at his forehead, severing the tips of his bangs. Thinking that this meant he was tiring as well, she made the mistake of slightly relaxing her grip on the handle of her nodachi.

Kiba took advantage of this, and with a rising swing knocked it out of her hands.

Now she was dead. She had no weapon and almost all her chakra and energy had been used up. He had already made a few cuts in her, which proved that he meant to kill her.

But to Inuko’s surprise, Kiba put away his sword. Was he so honorable that he would only fight an unarmed opponent with his bare hands? He suddenly put a friendly, almost tender smile on his face. His eyes changed back from the aggressive, animalistic stare to the caring gaze he had before. As he walked up to her, she began to scramble her mind for what to do: attack first, or wait and react to whatever he does.

Running his fingers first through Inuko’s hair and then down the side of her face, Kiba knew this had to be the happiest moment of all his life’s romantic exploits. Before today, things had always been so different. At first, he went after Hinata, but a morning watching her fantasize over Naruto changed that. He went after Sakura, then Ino, but both were far too obsessed with that traitorous bastard Saskue. He dared not to go after Tenten, least Neji lock him in a staring contest. And Temari? She was never in town, and he could never imagine how Shikamaru got past her brothers.

But now? Now he had found someone who had been claimed by nobody. He could tattoo ‘Property of Kiba Okami’ on her somewhere…..if she let him, that is. But that was beside the point.
