Tales of Okuri Tale 2 of 7 Beauty and the Beasts

“So, why’d you chase after me?” she asked him.

Kiba shrugged. “You’ve got a nice face.” He began to finger her hair. “I like your hair. Your smell is wonderful. And after seeing you run like that for 3 hours…..you’ve got to have a perfect body.” He let go of her hair and put his hands behind his head. “Isn’t it obvious?”

“What?” she shouted. “That’s it? Kiba, we don’t even have anything in common!” He turned his head and gave her a ‘who-you-kidding-babe’ look. “Ears and tails don’t count.”
“We both have 42 teeth.”

“That doesn’t count either!”

“We’re both single.”

“Don’t even go there, you twisted…..”

“You doing anything after next sundown? Because I know this beautiful spot to spend the night eating, talking and who knows what…..”

“Why should I be interested in you?!?!?!?

There was a moment of silence. “Your friends don’t like killing, they got used to it. You enjoy killing.” Inuko’s eyes widened in horror: he was right. “Just like me. Just like Akamaru. Just like Okuri.” She…..she…was no better than the Wolf brothers! No, that couldn’t be true! “But, like us, you know where to draw the line. You study Bushido, letting it guide you down a path where you can kill without losing your honor.” Hs right arm extended, cradled her head and turned it toward his. “Am I right?”

By now, Inuko was very tired and just had enough energy to talk. “Yes.” She said softly.

Kiba pulled his mouth to her ear. “So, you doing anything after next sundown?”

“That depends…..Can you carry me home?”

Kiba laughed, stood up and slung Inuko over his shoulder as he did so.
