“The Devil’s Trill”
Yuki had been a normal girl, she was a first year student at Toho university, she was polite, and loved music; especially the classics. What you could not call normal was that she was 100% pro Kira, she would never voice it, but silently each day as she watched the news about the Kira victims she applauded the mysterious vigilante for his extraordinary “cleansing of society.” A silly schoolgirl crush she named it, for she would never be able to meet the real Kira, she deemed herself not worthy for such an honor.
Yawning slightly as she looked out the window, and watched the puffy snow flakes dance down towards earth. Half listening to her teacher’s lecture and the other half just watched the poetic waltz the snowflakes did in the wind.
The lunch bell broke her thoughts and signaled her freedom for a brief moment before she had to return to class. Grabbing her violin case and swinging her book bag over her shoulder, she quickly walked out of the room to meet with her friends at lunch.
A sea of chattering students could be heard from all side of the cafeteria. Sighing a little she soon found her friends with a new addition today. Light Yagami, the honor student? You smiled as your friends waved you down excitedly.
“Yuki! Yuki! There’s another Kira article in the news paper!” They lifted the newspaper up and this automatically brighten up your day. Sitting across from Light you vigorously yanked the paper out of his hands with a smile on your face. You eyes scanned the article in a breeze. Grinning from ear to ear you let out an excited, “Yes! Two more murders and a rapist gone!”
Light only smiled at your actions. ‘She’s like a kid who just got a new toy,’ Light thought as he chuckled.
“Well you seem really excited about Kira don’t you Yuki?” He asked her resting his chin on the top of his interlocked hands.
Her face grew a bright red and before she could answer the young man in front of her one of her friends cut her off.
“You didn’t know! She’s in love with Kira,” On said laughing as the others joined in, which only made her head sink down using the newspaper to hide her face.
“It’s not love!” Yuki said meekly.
“When what is it?” Light asked now curious.
“I just admire him so much. I believe he’s doing the right thing for society,” She replied removing the newspaper from her face.
“You know I work on the Kira case,” Light said with a tiny smirk as if challenging her.
“That’s horrible! Why would you want to capture someone so good!” Yuki shouted. She clasped her hands over her mouth. She had not meant to shout at Light. Just the thought of Kira getting caught made her uneasy.
“You know he’s a murderer Yuki don’t you?” His tone serious, while he eyes bore into hers.
“I know that! But, Light, you of all people should know that justice is not always black and white!”
“Care to explain?” He asked not sure by what she had meant with her metaphor.
“If the murderers and criminals are black and the police force and L is white, then Kira is that exact grey area that the world needs.” She smiled at Light as he was caught off guard by her explanation. “Kira is not afraid to break some rules if it’ll benefit the world! Yes he’s a murderer, but he’s doing a better job the any police officer or prison can do with these criminals.”
Light and her friends just stared at her in awe. Who knew that Yuki could be that deep. She scowled at them a little. “Give me some credit, I got into Toho University like all of you.” Annoyed a little she picked up her things and left.
[Light POV]
I was doubtful about this girl at first. She reminded me a lot of Misa, with her Kira obsession. But, she surprised me today with her speech. I had not mean to upset her, but I guess playing the son of a FBI agent was very contradicting to what I really am. Kira.
My eyes followed her when I noticed her violin case. She would surely be in the music room later. I’d confront her there later. Light had found his perfect companion. Someone who understood his motives, and like a true follower didn’t question his method. Light, no Kira had found his Goddess.
[Yuki POV =after school=]
Classes had finished for the day, yet I was still upset at Light and my friends. How rude of them, ask me for my opinion then stare at me like, “Did that come out of her mouth? I didn’t think she could think like that.”
The mere thought made me upset. My shoes clicked against the pretty much-deserted music hall. Pulling up a chair for my stuff. I placed it on the chair, still holding on to my violin case, I placed it down on the cold floor in front me, and opened the silver clasps. The lacquer finish on my violin sparkled and beckoned for me to play, even just for a little.
Picking it up gingerly like a baby, holding the neck of the violin while the bow in the other. Placing it under my chin I took a deep breath and my bow made its first contact with the strings. Meaningless notes soon turned into a beautiful sonata. You didn’t recognize the piece at first but soon remembered it to be “The Devil’s Trill.” You don’t remember ever mastering this piece but a wave of accomplishment washed over you as note after note you continued to play.
[Third POV]
Light had finally found the music hall with some difficulty along the way. The exciting song of the violin echoed through the halls and Light found himself caught in a choke hold to the wonderful piece and only found himself following the sound.
He opened one of the rooms that were cracked open, letting the music flood out. He leaned against the doorframe as he watched his Goddess play her heart out. As the piece ended Light started clapping slowly, this started Yuki for only a moment. She turned her head and bent down to put her violin and bow away back in its protective case.
“What was that piece called?”
Yuki frowned a little, why was he still talking to her, “The Devil’s Trill.”
“The Devil’s Trill hm? For such a dark name it’s very beautiful,” Light commented.
A smile tugged at the corner of her lips. Of course Light would be cultured like this. He was too perfect not to be.
Yuki walked up to Light nonchalantly. She looked up at him, craning her neck, for he was a head taller than her. “Excuse me Light,” She said politely.
Light did not reply but just stared down her. Yuki frowned, and touched her face to see if there was anything wrong with it. Finding nothing, she glanced back up at him nervously. She was growing weary under his stare.
“Light, I said excuse-“ Light’s lips crashing down on hers cut off Yuki. There was nothing gentle about the way Light ferociously captured her lips. Yuki gasped lightly Light took the opportunity to glide his tongue past Yuki’s lips, exploring her mouth Yuki began to feel her knees become weak, it hit her, this was Light. He slightly pushed herself off him. Panting lightly, her flushed face tried to muster up a glare at him.
“What was that?” Yuki demanded breathless.
“An invitation from Kira.”
Yuki just glared at him now, “Quit mocking me Light.”
“Yuki, I am Kira,” Light said whispering into her ear, his hot breath making her shiver, “And I was please today at lunch of how highly you spoke of me. So pleased that I want you my Goddess.”
Yuki blinked in confusion. Was he on drugs? “I don’t believe you Light.”
“I’ll prove it to you in time, but for now you’ll have to trust me.” Light said stroking her hair lightly. “Do you?”
Yuki bit her lip, ‘Did I trust him?’ For all Yuki could guess Light could still be trying to mess with her. It wasn’t every day that Light would come up to a girl make up some crazy lie just to get her to be with him. Wrapping her arms around him she just smiled happily.
Yuki looked up to meet his chocolate brown eyes, “Having Kira is nice, but for now I’m happy with Light.”
