The Windguardian

Sylph

I watched for a moment as it seemed that these interesting fellows had yet to choose either who they were to fight against, so I smiled a bit and began working on my own spells. I brought my index finger up and traced an air seal in the space in front of me. With my other hand, I curved the existing air around and whipped it into the symbol and amplifying it with the seal.

“Air Burst,” I smiled a bit watching my attack take effect.

The ending effect was wondrously simplistic. A burst of air exploded and surged forth at the two boys in front of me. I waved a bit of the air more than usual and burst the air directly at the blonde haired boy. Before my attack made any significant impact, my ears caught the sound of my air running against metal, and my eyes traced to find that the boy had managed to block my full attack with a pair of keyblades. I nearly laughed.

“Oh my interesting,” I said clapping my hands together. “A keyblade wielder heh. I haven’t seen one of those creatures living in quite some time. Tell me young man….” I used an acceleration of air to miss an attack from the other and came right face to face with the blonde boy. “What is a keyblade user doing here?”

The boy didn’t answer but just glared back at me and brought both keyblades up in an X format to try and slice my jugular vein. I backed up quickly and out of his sword range again smiling and clapping my hands.

“I never would have expected to find such a rare jewel in a dump like this,” I said waving my hand a bit in the air in a small circular motion. “I honestly can’t see why Kratos has yet to redecorate this place is something more suiting. I would say pink what do you think?”

Suddenly my side vision caught the other boy with black hair charging at me with an interesting looking sword. He drew upwards as if to cut me under the chin, and I brought a pocket of air up to block it. Suddenly before I could blink, the attack had changed in nature and it was coming swiftly down on my head. I didn’t have time to do anything but draw my weapon and block. The giant fan held up against the attack easily, but it had not brushed the attack all the way back yet. I smiled a bit but felt my pupils turn to slits holding his attack of in mid air.

“Well aren’t you a very rude boy,” I said staring at him with a curl on my lips. “Wait your turn. I want to talk with Blondie here…”

I flicked my wrist and the fan ripped a pocket of air throwing the man backwards and hearing the lovely echo of bones on walls. I turned my head a bit and caught the first boy charging at me with keyblades again. I sighed and made a quick air symbol with fan in hand and sent an air burst at him. The boy was shoved back, but he dug his heals into the ground trying to keep his footing. Before he could stand up fully again, I rushed straight up go him again and shoved one of my fans through both his keyblades. The paper of the fans ripped, but I snapped the fan shut completely and locked the boy from unleashing any attacks.

“Now then we can have a very nice conversation,” I smiled at him. “And your shiny keyblades are now mine heheheh.”
“That’s what you think,” Blondie answered, and suddenly both of the keyblades began to glow with a strange light.

I quickly recoiled and backed away as the light expanded and exploded nearly causing me damage. Suddenly I felt a blade at my back. The other boy had come back and was getting ready to shove it straight through me.

“Die,” the boy said calmly.

I felt the sword shoved forwards in my back, but I recoiled and spun a gust of air around forcing him back again. I had to end this quick. I was not like Grandfather Maxwell who could easily take down many enemies with simple pieces of paper….but then again….I had another advantage….but only if I didn’t finish this easily enough….

“You rude little boy,” I scolded. “I already told you I was talking with Blondie here. I guess I will just have to deal with you first.”

I used a gush of air and lunged forwards as the boy was still being brushed back by my air current. My hand tightened around my fan and it reformed as new. With one quick swipe, I lashed an air whip at the boy. I continued releasing air pulse after air pulse forcing the boy back more and more and more. I wanted to slam him straight into the back wall and knock him out so that I could return to talking with the interesting keyblade boy.

I continued brandishing the air whips and soon enough, the wonderful sound of bones hitting the wall ran into my ears again. I smiled a bit and kept an eye on the keyblade boy. He was preparing more of that strange light to attack with, but he was not moving. All I had to do was knock out one and then take down the other.

“Ah the beauty of battles against interesting opponents,” I said stopping my air attacks for a split second to bring my fingers together in an arch. “But now it is time to say good bye.”

I muttered an air spell, and the air current drastically increased. My fans assumed their truest form and turned to one large fan. I brought the fan forwards and then made a quick slash sending air forwards at the boy. Rocks crumbled and fell on top of the boy, and the sound of howling winds echoed throughout the area.

“RANX!” a voice yelled across the room, and I found that the keyblade boy was running towards me very very angrily.

I laughed a bit and closed the distance between us instantaneously and brought up my fan to block his attack. He tried to slash through the threads of my fan, but it held firm. Even as he attempted multiple double helix attacks, my fan was a perfect defense. I brushed off his attacks and stepped forwards. He jumped forwards again and I held my fan tight and blocked his attack. Neither of us could move and brush the other one off. The strange light appeared again, but I began brushing it away with my own air.

We were at a complete standstill. He stared at me, and I stared at him. Both of us had our weapons locked.

“Now now Blondie,” I started. “Pactmaker Kratos said for me to stop those that enter this level, and as part of my pact I will do as he asks…If you continue, I will be forced to destroy you and see the end of a keyblade user….so sad so sad…..Cruxis was full of people like you, but now they are rare….so sad….and wait….are you not a nobody? Oh then I can simply find your Other if I accidentally kill you here….rare shiny objects heheheh. I am a collector of shiny objects you see….and…”

“Will you shut up!” a voice said, and instantly I felt the air pressure change. Someone was charging straight towards me, and I couldn’t break the stand still without having the keyblade wielder attacking.I was trapped….and yet.

“Silies! My partner and beloved friend! COME FORTH!” I yelled.

The sound of metal hitting metal reached my ears, and I smirked.

“Sylph…..” a small voice said behind me. “My partner, you have called upon me, and I have come….”

“Let us finish this fight together then,” I answered.

“Agreed,” Silies answered.

“Damn,” the boy behind me growled at having his attack reflected.

I looked directly at Blondie and began forming more and more air to shove him back. Finally he lost his footing and slid back a bit. I used this temporary weakness to shove more and more air between us. Since Silies was here, I could continue to use short range attacks, but I preferred medium anyways. I spun the air in a counter-clockwise current and followed at the end of it bringing up my fan.

In the corner of my eye, I caught Silies defending herself against the man with black hair. He was mercilessly attacking her with the sword, but suddenly my eyes caught the form of the sword. It was a completely different sword all together. It was a keyblade….so he was another one? Two in one day? Such rareness all unfolding in front of me. I felt my lips curl up again. And he had such a shiny keyblade too….If I had known…and yet….

Silies defended herself admirably with her giant shield defending her, and once she got a minute in, she began casting spells. First, a sharp seal spell was unleashed to encase this half in the room in a perpetual bubble. Then, the air pressure began to compact itself into one giant sphere, and I realized what Silies was doing. Her quiet attacks were most destructive, and it appeared that she was attempting to gather enough air molecules to use the Air Bomb.

I smirked as the air pressure everywhere else dropped. The sound of lungs panicking at the lack of air was an interesting sound to say the least, and it filled my ears quickly. I whipped an air sphere around my head and then used the small amount of air still in the bubble to gush the Blondie back more. If it kept up, soon neither the Blondie nor the black haired man would be able to remain conscious, and Silies wouldn’t even have to use her full attack for its most painful aspect to be unleashed.

I turned my head a bit and caught the sight of the black-haired man continuing to attack Silies as if unaffected, and yet I knew he was suffocating on the inside. I turned and brandished my fan to beat him away from Silies.

He seemed to catch my eye and turned to attack me, I blocked with my fan. I turned to see the Blondie struggling to catch his breath. I could only imagine how much the room must have been spinning to him. I stepped over to him, and he shoved one of his keyblades into the ground and all but leaned on it. Then when it proved to be not enough support, he shoved the other keyblade into the ground.

I smirked and looked over to Silies. She had all but taken the last of the air out of the area and compacted it into the space of about the size of a pin head. I shrunk my fan back into to small fans and continued to come closer towards the double bladed keyblade user.

“I win Blondie, but don’t worry,” I smiled. “A jewel like you could always be added to my shiny collection back home…”

I looked straight down at him then. Suddenly my eyes caught the strange light beginning to explode in front of me once more. He was trying one last attack. He managed to force himself upwards and stood slowly being enclosed by his own strange light. I brought up my two fans to deflect any major attack, but suddenly the explosion seemed to come from straight within me. The sudden explosion was painless, but unnerving.

“SPLIT!” Silies yelled.

Everything stopped, and I looked over to the left of me and saw a mirror image of me. So this was the way things would turn.

“Silies…” I said and found my voice once again morphed into a girl’s voice. Our truest form had been revieled…. “Did you not think?”

“Forgive me Partner!” Silies said quickly. “I was afraid you would be harmed….”

I looked over at the mirror image of myself in this form. We were both girls, and the only difference between us was the fact that I carried a sword and my other form carried a bow and arrow. The truest form….Sylph….one name but that did not describe us….we were three…..

“It is fine Partner,” I and my mirror image answered. “Let us use our truest forms to end this.”

Suddenly the sound of Blondie kneeling down again made my lips curl. He couldn’t pull an attack like that off again, and he was at his limit with little air left. I looked sharply over to the other who was now fully laying on the ground. His hair shielded his face, but by the constant emissions of carbon dioxide rolling out of him, I knew he was still alive.

“Now now,” I smiled looking at my reflection form. “We don’t want to kill them now do we? Let’s keep them as treasures….keyblade wielders heheheh.”

My reflection form laughed as well which caused Silies to laugh as well.

“Well we don’t want to kill them so why don’t we finish off this air bomb and be….” Silies started, but she was cut off.

My eyes widened as I saw Silies fall to the ground, flail around wildly for a moment, and then disappear right before me. I screamed at the pain and my mirror image screamed at the pain. We both looked around sharply for the culprit, and at that moment, we saw something we had over looked.

“Chaos sphere….” The man with black hair answered our confused looks. He forced his head up to view us even with his last breaths of consciousness. “It takes a while….but…..I win….” He said dropping his head down.

My reflection and I looked at each other and suddenly I felt another explosion run through me. It was as if I couldn’t control any part of me. My body didn’t know what to do. I fell to my knees and then to the ground with my reflection form. It was as if I couldn’t get control over even my own breathing. Suddenly it all disappeared, and I realized then that I was back in my spiritual form.

So he had forced me from my physical form…how…how…..how….

I looked around in my spiritual form for answers, but all I could see was that the last of Silies’s magical spell had died and the air had returned. Both boys….no…men…Both men took a breath in and then forced themselves upright. It was then that I realized what had happened.

The last attack by Blondie hadn’t been aimed at me at all. It was used to help charge the black-haired man’s attack which still left me in a state of confusion and loss of control. I looked around but found that in my spiritual form, I had taken to being the two girls again. Silies was standing beside us.

“Partner….I….didn’t…I’m sorry…..” Silies started.

“They won fare and square,” my reflection form and I answered together. “It was none of our faults. They were stronger even with us together. I have a feeling that we are not the only ones defeated….where do you think….”

“Here youngins,” Grandpa Maxwell’s voice said somewhat somberly. “In truth we have been defeated as well.”

“All of you?” I and my reflection asked.

“Yes,” Maxwell answered. “These nobodies are strong, but now that our pacts with the Pactmaker are finished, we must turn away from them and complete the mission set as our very existence. We must find, protect, and serve the Karlan tree.”

“Grandpa Maxwell you were always the most ‘get down to work’ ethic summon,” I laughed.

“And yet you are not,” Maxwell commented. “Do you plan to go against this as Celsius did?”

My eyes quickly moved over to Nefer. It was no secret that Nefer adored Celsius, and yet he was here with us instead of by her side. It was obvious that we all knew what was going on…we had work to do…indeed….and Celsius had always been our most rebellious summon….but this was even higher this our social quarrels…

“So then have you located the Karlan Descendant, Maxwell?” I asked crossing my arms.

“No,” Maxwell answered. “But I believe we must return home soon and find him.”

“And what of the other relatives?” I asked. “The ones still bound?”

“They will come soon enough,” Maxwell answered.

“Grandpa Maxwell you are too patient for your own good,” I answered. “But I digress….I will go with you all….and Silies? Will you come?”

Silies nodded silent and looked around.

“Hm?” Maxwell asked.

“Where are all your partners?” she asked quietly.

“They are still bound to Kratos,” Maxwell said streaking his beard methodically. “But they will come in time. I have no doubts.”

I nodded a bit.

“Alright then,” I answered. “Where do we go from here?”

Maxwell laughed, but all of us stared at each other quietly.
