“I WOULD NOT!”

The silence that followed only served to anger me. Yet a question had been forced into my mind that I couldn't outright ignore. I had said it. I wouldn't sacrifice Lloyd. Even after I had sworn I would kill anyone that got in my way. This.... was truly irritating.

"So you wouldn't sacrifice Lloyd," Yuan started as a smile appeared on his face. "Indeed......"

"Yuan," I growled.

"Kratos, it is time for you to wake up," Yuan said sharply. "And if I can't wake you up..... then I know others will...."

A strange feeling was taking ahold of me, and yet it was not a feeling at all. More of a power running through me. It was annoying. Very annoying. I shoved it away but then it became the question again. I wouldn't kill Lloyd. Damn it!

"Why not wake that part of you? The real Kratos..." Yuan taunted. "So that we may fight on equal grounds. I do not like fighting an old blind man. Wake up and face what you have done with yourself."

It was irritating. I wanted to shut him up. That strange feeling continued to run around in my skin.... but I couldn't kill L-..... It was irritating.

I felt more pacts rip from me. It was only for a moment. The irritation was all that continued. Why would I not kill him.... why why why why why.

I grabbed my head with both hands digging at my own thoughts.

"Well well so this is where the Cruxis brat has been hiding," a voice laughed. I felt my eye move towards the door's entrance and stop. Staring into my house... was Kvar.

"You think you can go off and hide? I find you truly worthless," Kvar continued. "You're young far younger than me and already in the Cruxis council to the gods, and yet you leave Cruxis...... Tell me why Kratos. Speak it."

I didn't say anything. I wouldn't say anything.

"Speak Kratos!" Kvar said again. "Your forced your way into the council and then leave it. Explain."

"I don't have to explain anything to you," I answered. "Leave Kvar, and I will leave you with your life."

"Tell me Kratos! Tell me why!" Kvar yelled again.

"Kratos?" a quiet voice asked. Martel... in her human form and wearing a white dress was coming down the stairs with a child in arms. A bolt of fear ran straight through me.

Kvar directed his head straight up and looked at Martel.

"So this is why....." Kvar smirked. "Hello little lady."

"Anna...." I said looking at Martel. "Get back up stairs..."

"And what is this?" Kvar smirked acceding the stairs. "A child? Kratos you..... had a child?"

With a sudden movement, Kvar brought a sword up to Martel's throat.

"If I kill them.... you will have nothing left but to come back to Cruxis and work...." Kvar smirked.

Martel backed up and took a side step on the stairs, but Kvar continued to advance.

"KVAR!" I roared. "JUDGEMENT!"

Suddenly Kvar's sword was in my hand, and I slashed at him. He backed away and brought up another sword.

"Yes yes get very angry," Kvar said. "And do your work back at Cruxis with that strength."

I glared down at Kvar as I shoved my sword farther and father into his sword barrier range.

"Anna! Run!" I yelled. Martel seemed frozen for a moment and then quickly moved away and stood in the front door watching.

"RUN!" I yelled again.

"Tch..." Kvar answered. "Para-shock...."

Suddenly I felt the electricity move through me. I couldn't move. Kvar moved up right again and kicked me backwards.

"Heh....." he smirked stepping towards Martel. Fear encased her, and she turned and fled still clutching Lloyd. Kvar followed suit smirking all the way. I couldn't move. I couldn't do anything. All I could hear was Martel's screams.

"DON'T KILL MY CHILD!" she yelled and then everything fell silent.

It was only after hours that I could move again. And days after that before I learned what had happened. Martel had taken Lloyd, and in her human form, she had jumped a cliff.

I returned to Cruxis unsure of what to do. They welcomed me back quietly. And then I saw her again. Martel was in her goddess form once again, and yet she was protected every time I managed to glimpse her.

I learned what happened.

Martel had died in her human form, and Lloyd was lost to the cliff..... After learning what had happened, the gods willed that Martel never leave their sights again. And the aversion they had to me grew.....

And yet Martel's last words before I could no longer hear me vibrated in me.

"Don't kill my child....." I breathed out.

The sound that came after was nothing in comparison with what had truly happened. A small snap and for a moment there was fuzziness. Then things became sharp. I stared... and saw.

Yuan had grown older. And through my own eyes I viewed him. It was nothing like seeing through the lesser nobodies. My eyes shifted through the area seeing things for the first time in what seemed like forever. My eyes shifted to the ground, and the red tainted ground gleamed in my own blood from the loss of the pacts.

"Can you see, Xraktos?" Yuan smirked. I didn't respond. "Good. More and more of you is coming back."

"Shut up Yuan," I answered staring at him with crimson eyes. "I will get Martel back, and you have only helped me to kill you."

Yuan was silent and slid himself back into attacking.
