Old Friends in a Bind

Nyx had entered the "Proof of Existence" with extreme hesitation. But she moved forward with determination all for her friends. Yet who she'd come to find wasn't there...the room was empty.

"No! Where are you RaXi!" She called out in a irritated, desperate tone! It was then that she noticed the portal to Saix's chambers...a place she'd wished to avoid at all cost. Yet for some reason, she could feel RaXi's energy emanating from that place...and so once again she treaded onward. Following the curved corridor around, she found RaXi unconscious against the window. Fearing the worse, she ran forward.

"RaXi!!! What happened?! Are you okay?!" She shouted in tears, shaking RaXi to the core.

I opened my eyes. "Nyx?! What's wrong?!" I cried out alarmed at the state she was in. "Why are you crying..."

"Tris...and....and....Lex...!! Something's happened to them..." She verbalized frantically. "Tris is going crazy...and now something is happening to Lex...they need your help! You're the only one who can handle them!"

I took a breath and gathered all of my energy. This wasn't going to be easy...I would need to get serious if I wanted to knock Tris back to his senses. The state he was in, it sounded as though he were on the verge of going Berserk. My specialty. I stood up and put my hand on Nyx's shoulder. "It's going to be alright. I won't let that idiot kill himself, or anyone else for that matter. Now dry your tears and open a portal up for me...I'll need all the power I can muster. Hurry."

She did as told and immediately peeled open a dark doorway. Preparing for the battle I knew I was about to get into, I stepped through first, in order to protect Nyx from whatever was going on that had her so frazzled.

Rexikat looked as though she could give out at any moment, she'd been pouring not only all of her power into restraining Triskix, but all of her being... I hurried to her aid first.

"You've done well. Let me assist you now." I offered her, and grabbed hold of her chains. "Don't let go, I'm just going to reinforce your grip on him for a moment." I froze the chains all the way to Triskix. Where he was bound froze up with ice, and steam began coming from his body...but it slowed him down a bit. "Tris...even you know my ice won't be melted easily...not with this moon out."

I thought just seeing me would've brought him to his senses...but that look he gave me just now...as though he would TRULY kill me, given the opportunity.

I looked to Lexian, who'd nearly fallen over clutching his head. I knelt down beside him and whispered in his ear. "Lex, everything's going to be okay...no one can hurt you here. You're safe. I'll protect you, I swear. Now follow the light, and come back to us."

"Nyx!" I ordered quickly. "It's up to you now. Try to guide Lex back with your light, I'm sure he'll follow. I can't do anything else for him...I have a greater battle before me now." Looking at Triskix again, I couldn't believe the intense power coming from him. I put my hand on Nyx's shoulder as she prepared to help Lex. "I'm sorry we haven't gotten to speak...I really did miss you. Don't you worry...I'll bring Tris back. No matter what."

Nyx looked up at me with concern. "The way you say that, it's as though you intend to--- RaXi!"

"RaXi!! Hurry...he's starting to melt through!" Rexikat yelled. "Jerk's putting all his strength into this too!"

"I understand." I acknowledged. The look on Rexikat's face...this was getting her excited...perhaps she hadn't faced a strong opponent like Tris in some time? I started walking towards Tris. Fire licked the ground all around him...and began to spread. "Rexi, undo the chains when I give the word!"

"Alright!" She agreed.

Taking another breath I broke into a slight run. Frost particles seemed to follow me and I raced towards Triskix. "NOW!" I called out, releasing the ice from the chain and simultaneously opening a portal behind Triskix. I hit him hard, and clutching him tightly, jumped into the portal...sealing it behind us. I'd heard Nyx scream at me as I dove in..."DON'T DIE RAXI!!!"

Our powers seemed to cancel each other out as we embraced...his fire unable to burn me, and likewise, my ice unable to freeze him. As soon as we landed I jumped away from him. We were now trapped in the darkness of an empty space.

"What's gotten into you?! Can you even see me right now?!" I shouted at him as he stood up and immediately created a wall of fire around us. He hadn't even looked at his surroundings, taken in the situation, nothing...his eye's lusted for one thing...my death. "I see..."

This wasn't Triskix...something was terribly wrong. "I blame myself, perhaps it was the elixir that did this to you. Maybe I was wrong to bestow so much power on you...I thought you could handle it..."

To this, he replied. "POWER! Power is all that matters!!! You can destroy worlds with power! Anything is possible when you have POWER!"

I didn't like this feeling gnawing at my mind. "Triskix...I had no idea you were one who'd become chained..." There was no reasoning with him...I had to cut the chain binding him...within.

He attacked. Throwing fireballs at first, but then he drew his scythe. The double-scythe became a large single scythe...large and much more powerful I imagined. He was seriously trying to destroy me. Each slash was quicker than the last...I wasn't going to be able to match him in this state...

"I'm sorry Triskix..." I said jumping up into the air. "I never wanted you to see me like this...at least not on that side of my blade..." My hair darkened and marks appeared on my face....my eyes became a bright and complete blue...I was now in my berserker state. Forming a large ball of ice fused with darkness, I cast it at Triskix, then appeared behind him and slashed with a flurry of attacks. He wouldn't be able to dodge the blast while I distracted him...and neither would I. It hit us both head on...and I cried out it's name..."LUNAR OBLIVION!!!"

The attack had worked...but I'd paid the price...Triskix had sliced me pretty deep...the wound burned. But now he was in my territory. The ground was littered with ice-swords...all standing upright and ready for use. This would be the only time Triskix would ever fall for this attack...but it would be enough...for now. In this place, all who come here fall into a misconception of time...they cannot react or move, or even see me...And so, with much hesitation I drew out the first blade.

All it took was one cut...to make my berserker blood pump. I began moving faster and faster, drawing a blade and slashing, drawing another, slash, another, slash! My wound burned again...and then I stopped. Seeing what I'd done to Tris, I turned back to my normal self. I called off the Lunar Oblivion and fell to my knees, heaving and sweating beads of ice. I heard him fall to the ground as well, his scythe fading away.

I crawled to his location. "Tris...Triskix...please tell me I didn't go too far...please come back..."

Surprisingly he smiled at me. "You idiot! Do you think I could be defeated by an attack like that!" He huffed. He was back.

I fell beside him...the wound I received from his scythe was bleeding heavily...using my power and moving at that pace had only worsened my situation..."Idiot...you'd better break that chain...before it destroys you...and don't you dare try healing me looking like that...or when I wake up...I'll kill you." I muttered and passed out. I'd used far too much power to subdue him...
