I stood outside for a lone while. I didn't even know how long; I'd lost track of the time. Pashnirix had made a very enticing offer, one I'd have to examine carefully and figure out how to use to my advantage.
Before I was even conscious of it, I picked up on another presence outside, not to far away from myself. I my tail swished back and forth and I quieted my breathing automatically, still in my Final form. I really couldn't help it; I tracked down the scent, stealthily stalking in the shadows.
I climbed into a tree when I was near my prey, scanning the ground for an exact location. Near the rear wall of the castle, I found him, Ximh, by his scent and dead-giveaway hair. He hadn't noticed me yet, and was simply sitting by the wall. I didn't move a muscle, watching him with steady unblinking eyes.
I grew bored of just sitting and watching. With a silent leap, I landed gracefully on the ground before him. Sniffing the air carefully, I picked up on his confusion and desperation. He must have really been lost in his mind, for he didn't even notice as I grew closer and closer. Finally, with a gesture of submission, I pushed my nose against his cheek and let out a soft growl.
Ximh started, and then relaxed. "Oh," he said. "Rexikat, right?" I nodded in response. "Something's wrong," I said.
He shrugged. "I'm alright, I guess. I just...need to think," he said. I felt a new wave of melancholy sweep over him, and pinned him to the wall. "You are not okay," I snarled. I didn't know why it mattered. Stupid boy had triggered my protective instinct back when he knew nothing, and now it seemed like i was stuck playing mother tigress. "What's wrong?"
He looked me in the eye, saw the determined gleam, and explained about his recent discoveries. "I don't know what to do now," he admitted dully. "I have nothing left to live for. No Heartless, no Other, nothing." He looked to the sky.
I let Ximh go. I had experienced the same thing for a brief period of time. I didn't know what to do, where I was supposed to go, until I figured out that defending people from Heartless attacks would satisfy my powers as well as give me a purpose. Ximh needed to find a purpose now, before he sank into depression. I had to protect him somehow...and I knew just the way.
"Ximh," I said, reaching out a paw to pat his shoulder, before falling to the side in a mock faint. He caught me before I hit the ground, patting my face to wake me up.
"Rexikat? Rex! Wake up," he muttered. I took great care not to move, not even to smirk at his concerned tone. "Oh, great," he said. "Not again. I guess I better bring you to your room."

KitKat: Hey, HEY! Rex is back in action...and cunning as ever! ^_^
Rexikat: Hell, yeah. I'm not gonna give up on Ximh that easily.
KitKat: Don't you think he'll be mad when he finds out you were faking?
Rexikat: -_- He won't.
KitKat: And if I tell him...?
Rexikat:...-_-' He'll get over it.
