“RaXi this is going to put a lot of strain on me,” Triskix spoke calmly, “I have no idea how this will affect after I do it…….”
“Don’t worry Triskix,” I assured him. I could tell he was slightly hesitant about making such a move...
“Good,” He responded taking a deep breath.
He summoned up his scythe and began a chant. “The sharing of power through the pact of Leader and Second, The power to seal the dark pathways to the Land of Dragons belongs to my Leader as his creation right. But I have made the Pact necessary…and I demand that I use this power! Now Entrust me with it!”
Suddenly black energy enveloped the scythe and I felt myself involuntarily just back and away. All I could do was watch with wide eyes...in wonder at this procedure. The flames jumped forwards and created a closed door with a nobody symbol on the top and a heartless symbol on the bottom. Several chains were wrapped around the door with a heartless skull hanging and smiling out towards us. Was this the gate we all unknowingly used to portal our way through the worlds? Only now did it actually appear in physical reality. Triskix dashed for it and slashed at the door with his scythe. It broke into pieces, the pieces then disintegrating into nothingness.
“It worked…..” He panted as he fell to the floor kneeling and heaving to catch lost air. I rushed to him.
“Triskix!” I called out desperately. Doing the only thing I could think, I reached for the bottle I'd given him...to restore his energy. But he stopped me. All I could do was wait...for several minutes. Until, finally, it seemed like he'd caught his breath.
“Are you ok now?” I asked in an effort to mask my concern.
“I’m fine,” He answered, looking around. “Now then….where………are we……”
I hadn't even bothered to look at our surroundings either. I'd been so focused on Triskix's well-being...I had NO IDEA where we were. There were automobiles parked along the streets...old style automobiles. We stood at the entrance to a large house. We didn't know where to go from here. Suddenly...it started to sprinkle. Triskix seemed to be in a panic...worse than the snow. Yet there was no place for us to take cover. And soon...the sprinkle turned into a downpour... Triskix crouched down...covering his head in his hands. He looked so pathetic...I felt sorry for him. So I tried to somehow shield him...it was pointless...it wasn't working at all...
Suddenly the curtain to the window of the big house opened. A light from inside shining into the darkness of the street. I could make out a tiny creature in the window...and then it vanished. Within moments the front door swung open. An elderly lady rushed over to us with an umbrella.
"My dears, what in the world are you doing in this rain?!" She exclaimed, helping me get Triskix to his feet and holding the umbrella. "Come inside this instant...before you're soaked through...Hurry now!"
We stood in the foyer of the huge house in awe. It wasn't anything like the Castle. It was warm and inviting. A sense of coziness exuding from every single article in the house. She rushed back with towels and began helping us dry ourselves off. Like a mother would do for her children. Yet it was no use...we were already soaked through...
She shook her head from side to side. "Now this won't do, not at all." She commented, her hand on her chin. "Come on then. We'll have to get the both of you out of those wet clothes...before you catch your death."
Usually the sarcastic Triskix would smirk...or make some sort of odd comment at that remark...yet he was totally silent. He was all TOO willing to get out of the wet uniform. But of course...Triskix was Fire...it was only natural.
A butler rushed Triskix to a nearby room, while I was led upstairs by the Madame herself. When she was through with me...I felt my eyes twitch involuntarily upon my gazing in the mirror. There was...baby blue...and...frills! Lace...fluffy....DRESS! I stood there in shock. She smiled and led me back down to Triskix. Where suddenly I heard a slight scream come from him. Picking up the front of the dress I ran to his location and threw open the door. He was crouched over in front of a large standing mirror...a small kitten attached to his finger, by it's teeth. He saw me and stood up. We both stood there staring at each other for a bit...
Eyeing him head to toe...he was in an old fashioned suit. Complete with a tied bow. I felt my face getting a little warm...I suddenly wondered if I was blushing. But then...realizing I couldn't EVER let him see me do something like that, I started giggling, my finger pointed at him. "Look at you..." I started.
"Hey RaXi, look in a mirror before you..." He began after a moment.
"The kitten!" I interrupted. "What? He doesn't like you?"
"Berlioz!" The Madame exclaimed, taking the kitten into her arms. "You should be kind to our guests!" She scorned shaking her finger at him.
In walked two other adult cats. Then two other kittens peeked up from hiding places in the room. They all ran over to little Berlioz and nudged him lovingly.
"These are my precious kitties." The woman explained fondly. "Duchess and her children, Marie, and Toulouse, you've met Berlioz. And here is Thomas O'Malley."
The cats all seemed so distinguished...as though they themselves were the wealthy owners of the household. Before the introductions could get any further, there was a loud clanging on the front door.
"My...who could that be at this time of night?" The madame asked curiously. Her butler walked out the door and we all waited patiently for it to open. As the door opened, lightning struck in the background...darkening the silhouette for a moment. Just who was this strange and...unpleasant visitor??
