Children of the Castle

Xyta
I stood at the base of one of the tall chairs and leaned my back agaist it. Aidex looked nervously at me from her stance at another chair. Anamx was grasping the base of RaXi's chair like a little kid clinging to his mother.

“About these children. We must discuss what to DO with them.” The Leader announced immediately. I felt my head trun upwards. Don't you dare talk like we're not here. I glared at the Leader.

I would never dream of it child, a voice answered back into my head. I recoiled in an instant, and Aidex stared at me.

Wha- I started.

Isn't it obvious? the Leader's voice asked.

So this is your power.... I answered.

Yes....no stay quiet and let the adults talk.

I was left with a crude feeling of irritation. I did not like this man one bit. He was too much like Xerebus.....

“I propose we continue the tradition of apprentices. I will take this task upon myself should you all decide NOT to have an apprentice...I ask No One else to abide by it, yet I have made a deal with these girls. I owe them my word and shall fulfill it.” RaXi said quickly.

Aidex looked up at RaXi for a moment. A strange version of hope was running across her face. She would finally have a master to teach her the secrets of light.

If you purpose such a thing RaXi, you had better be able to back it up. I thought to myself.

She.... the Leader started, but Nyx jumped in.

“I agree with RaXi. The apprentice system wasn’t without it’s flaws but...she shouldn’t do this alone. I’ll help...after all...Aidex is light. It’s only right that I should...” Nyx said quickly.

The look on Aidex's face made me almost happy.

“You haven’t even allowed me to speak on the matter Nyx.” The Leader glared. “You shouldn’t be so quick to assign and implement new systems...”

"Well you have no right to deny us Masters!" I yelled up quickly.

I sat quietly waiting for the Leader's decision when Xyta's daring voice shot out. I nearly laughed to myself. It was so full of defense and strength.

"You have no right to deny us Masters!" Xyta yelled from below.

I felt a wave of irritation run through the Leader. Xyta's face paled and she fell fowards. Aidex ran to catch her quickly before she hit the floor. I sighed realizing the Leader was inflicting his power again.

"As you have no right to talk at this point either," the Leader glared. "Now then, I believe that for one thing, these children are from Zero and should be treated as prisoners.

"No," I said before anyone else had another say. The Leader turned his head. Aparently he had been expecting this defiance from someone else. "I won't have children in the dungons," I continued. "These children have done nothing in Zero besides existed as prisoners. I refuse to shackle them."

A laugh went through the Leader and echoed through the nothingness. I felt my skin crawl a bit, and as I glaced over at Lexian he seemed to feel it too.

You're even more than I thought, Triskix. The Leader's thoughts laughed into my head. You quick to beat down shackles on others and yet harness your own for yourself....

They have not made a pact, and they are innocent. I answered.

Innocent nobodies? Well that is a first. The Leader continued to laugh.

I won't have it Xraktos. I answered. See this as payment for me having to kill Minx and Tamex.

At hearing his own name, the Leader stopped laughing. A dead silence filled the room.

"Fine, Triskix, fine," the Leader rebuked. "Now then what you you do then?"

I could feel everyone's eyes burning at me as much as the very flame inside was burning out. I took a breath.

"Because they are children nobodies, it means that they will grow until...." I started. Everyone already know. Until they matured and their wills matured into adults as even mine was doing now. "And therefore, they must be trained or their wills will grow unruly," I continued. "So I believe implementing this apprentice system will have the most positive outcome. RaXi will train Xyta, and Aidex will be trained by Nyx."

The Leader feel silent, and I braced myelf for a war with his thoughts. Nothing came. Not even a burst of rage. Instead he seemed content with himself.

"Fine....I will adhear to this, but both Aidex and Xyta must make a pact with me," the Leader said sharply.

"What!" RaXi yelled.

"No," I roared back.

The Leader gave me a blind look of satisfaction.

They were arguing up in there seats about Xyta and my fates. As the Leader said we would have to make a pact, I felt the air in the room grow dense. Both Master RaXi and Master Triskix yelled.

Xyta remained in my arms and was silent to it all. Her eyes were open, but they looked foggy and gone.

"I refuse it!" I yelled up.

They stopped and looked down at us.

"I refue to be chained to anyone that would harm Xyta like this!" I yelled up. "We will leave, but we will not be abused like this! We did not just escape from Minx to end up slaves to you!"

The Leader looked down at me harshly. I mustered up enough courage and tried to keep my voice calm.

"We won't. We won't be chained," I said again. "Not to anyone that so much resembles Xerebus!"

This seemed to agrivate the Leader. He jumped straight down from his chair and started walking towards me. I backed up quickly.

"I will not have such disrespect from children," the Leader said. "And I will not be compared to Xerebus."

I felt a fear run through me. I wanted to portal away as fast as I could. This man....scared me.....

Suddenly Triskix jumped down from his chair and stood between me and the Leader.
