I sat within Magni's room, slowly looking around in the silence. I started to pick up the mess of things that had broken here and there...but then I turned to examine the "room". There was nothing here that seeming to really "personalize" or "distinguish" his room from any other here in the castle at all. It was just a basic living quarters....with only the NECESSARY Trappings. Part of me was saddened by this...but then again...Magni had always led a frugal life...he never needed much to make him happy. My gaze fell upon the window...
I sighed...my heart was beating so fast with the slight rage beginning to brew within me. The AUDACITY of that woman! To kiss him...right before my EYES! She knows Magni is wed to me! How DARE HER! Has she no control over her impulses and emotions?! I don't care...there is no excuse for such disrespectful behavior!
"I know I should remain here...but I must...I must find that woman and set things straight." I spoke trying to build up my confidence. I really hating fighting with people...but if I had to...in order to defend not only my HONOR...but the one that meant EVERYTHING to me....then I would rise to battle in the grandest of fashion! Clenching my fist, I opened the door and walked out.
From the run-ins with her...I could almost pinpoint her position immediately. There were several other people running around...but the person I wanted wasn't far from my location. I had always been pretty gifted about clearing Labyrinths...so finding my way around a castle such as this really didn't frighten me. I walked the halls calmly...until I felt a sudden breeze. And then...the unmistakable feel of someone's gaze on me...from right above.
"Kyxsha?" I stated...not even looking up. I felt her come down from the rafters....right behind me. I had KNOWN she was coming...but suddenly felt the need to put on a ruse. Until I knew everyone in this castle...I would be weak, innocent, little Hnoss. Completely oblivious, and easily scared. I let out a slight gasp.
"You called for me??" She stated in an irritated tone. I suddenly felt the urge to lash out at her...but stopped myself...and plastered the ruse back on my face.
"Kyxsha... i... ummmmm."
"I'm sorry if a scared you before... when you were in Ximh's room." She spoke quickly, averting my gaze. This told me only one thing...it was a full out lie.
I sighed, I didn't want to...but I had to say what I was feeling. Goodbye Innocent Hnoss... "Kyxsha...I'm not going to accept such an empty and meaningless apology such as that. I'm sorry...but the actions you took were the actions of a brash girl, who knows NOT of the world. You look the part of a woman, act as such! Magni...Ximh as you know him...is MY husband now. I will not have any stepping on the threshold of our marriage in disrespect. And I warn you...to threaten our marriage...or to threaten ME....is to challenge the GODS. For it was through THEIR will that we were wed...and no matter what you think...how you feel...you cannot deny that bond. You have neither the Power, or the Status to even oppose it." She wasn't looking at me...I could tell...she was completely tuning me out. I was almost a bit thrilled about that...I'd managed to say what I wished...while hiding the fact that I'd be playing the role of an innocent bystander. I plastered the hugest false smile I could muster and continued. "Since I'm only a guest in this castle...I really want to get along with everyone here. So I'd rather not have any further run-ins...if you get the picture. I think this works out in both our favor...what do you think?"
"Excuse me but i.. i.... I have a meeting to go to. You know the leader and what not....." She suddenly spoke and briskly walked off. I was sure she'd heard nothing...but oh well...I really didn't care. She would discover eventually....just how FAR I was willing to go to protect Magni. If she was lucky...she'd stay OUT of my WAY!
