"Well then, it sounds like we have a plan! Anyone against helping out our old comrades?" Tanex suggested to our past members.
"Heh...I'd rather not...but I guess I'll do it anyway since no one else is showing opposition." Xarin smirked. "After all this...the little flame boy's gonna owe me BIG TIME!"
I watched as Xirian escorted out RaXi leaving Xyta with Lexian and me, though I don’t think that Aidex minded have more time with her friend. I was glade that those two where able to have some sort of normal existence in these chaotic times. The rest of the apprentices disappeared into there own portals leaving up alone.
Tension filled the room as Lexian glared at Xirian’s retreating form from under his bangs. Pale hands bounded into tight fist as I waited for a red stream to roll down the area between fingers. He didn’t say anything but from his set jaw I could see the restraint that it took to hold back his blood thirsty need. Time after time no matter the occasion whenever Xirian was involved in something Lexian never stood around for long. I just hope that in this case he would put the past behind himself and stay, I didn’t want to watch him leave us again.
"What's wrong Lex?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing..." Lexian said. "I just need sometime alone that's all...I'll be back"
I looked up at him studying his red eyes trying to see the truth behind his words, but his face was completely blank once again like nothing happened and I worried me.
"I'm fine...don't worry..." Lexian answered smiling slightly trying to comfort me.
I slowly relaxed and made myself smile back hoping his words where the truth. "Alright Lex...be careful..."
One thing that I had learned from these experiences with Lex, well even with Tris, RaXi and Xemmsur, once their mind was set that was that. I guess that is why we are all such good friends, because we understand each other on so many levels.
Aidex and Xyta sat on the floor resting their head on one of the pillars of the chairs, both where nearly asleep. Walking slowly over to them I kneeled down in front of the girls brushing back a loose black hair that fell in Aidex face. Xyta open her eyes to glare at the intruder that dare come close I could feel the coldness in the air pick up. I was glade that she was awake enough to recognize me or I would probably be frozen to the ground by now.
Covering up the laughter that threatened to get out I reached over to touch her icy hand, and instantly I felt my body temperature drop by a mer touch of her hand. Smiling warmly at her and calmly telling her it was okay a small smile appeared on her face, and with that she slowly let her head roll back to rest on the pillar next to Aidex’s head.
"Children. Never thought I would see the innocent faces again, especially at such a time like this."
The voice made me jump and the closeness of it. I nearly forgot about the kids in front of me and I had to cover my mouth so I wouldn’t squeak and wake them. Standing up quickly I spun around to come face to face with rememberable bright blue smiling eyes. Tanex was leaning over to look over my shoulder, as I was checking Aidex and Xyta, observing them… that is until I stood and now we came face to face.
I pouted remember the actual height difference between us, but like that was anything new around here. Lets see Triskix is 6’ 2", Lexian is 5’ 9", and RaXi is 5’ 8". Which leaves Xemmsur the only one that is shorter then me, though you would never say that to her unless you want end up visiting Davie Jones for breakfast. With a graceful movement Tanex stood to his full height, though he is not as tall Triskix he was an inch taller then Lexian. Of course that is if you don't figure in his plat form shoes. XD
"But they are Cute little dears!" Tanex commented easily looking over my head at the children. "They actually remind me of you and RaXi, you know Nyx?"
"As long as they don't have to go threw the same things we do, that's okay."
"Tisk-Tisk, you can't change things. History will always repeat itself dear and nothing we say can change that, and you know it. Live for today and look forward to tomorrow."
"Do you think this will work Nissan?" I asked. "I mean we can't just talk to Xerebus... can we." I said not really letting it go as a question but more of a statement to myself.
"I will not lie to you Nyx but... I really don't know. It is a chance we have to take and the Pyro just going to have to lump it. Whether he likes it or not he needs help." Tanex said cheerfully smiling down like there is not a care in the world.
"So what changed? Fighting getting too old?" Leaning against the pillar Aidex and Xyta was sleeping on. His face hardened into the serious Tanex, his piercing eyes watched my every movement.
"Everyone changes Tanex. Back then it was for fun, or for a mission and dying never crossed my mind. Everyone was happy, well more the most part, we never knew what was going on behind the scenes." I said quietly walking over Tanex to sit against the next pillar down.
"We all left the castle and everything behind. RaXi is right we shouldn't have left, none of this would have ever happen if we didn't."
"Lets say we didn't, lets say we stayed and we have the castle right now. Do you think we would be happy? Would
you be happy to never leave?"
"All those raw memories right out in the open, being reminded of our flaw’s everyday. Never having that chance to see what the world was like, and never having that chance to push aside the memories of fading? Would you still be happy Nyx?"
"But Triskix--"
"That is the thing Nyx, Triskix is Triskix we can't change that. He was born to rebel, much like his master; he will sacrifice much for the people he cares about. One way or another he would find something outrages to do and we would have to bail his little butt out. We should have stayed but at the same time we needed to leave."
Tanex said looking down at the ground. The quietness stayed but it wasn't a awkward silence it was welcoming, besides gave me time to think about what he said.
"I have rooms for everyone to sleep in. The kiddies need a big soft bed to sleep in not a cold stone floor." Tanex said leaning down to pick Xyta up.
She grumbled and the air turned cold and I could see ice form around Tanex's hands, but it looked like it barley fazed him. He whispered something to the sleeping girl and she calmed and realized in his arms, as I reached down to pick up Aidex. He turned around and made a portal motioning me to go first.
The portal lead to a beautiful large room. The dark red carpet looked more like a sea of velvet circling around a huge Victorian bed. The light white curtain around the bed were pulled back by a black ribbon to show the silk crimson bed spread. The contrast between the white walls and the dark carpet made the bed stand out, as if it was glowing.
Movement caught my eye near the bed turning I saw an amused Tanex grinning, I guess from the look on my face he was proud of the work he done. Shaking my head at him I trying to hide the grin on my face by letting my hair fall as I set Aidex down on the bed. The carpet really did feel like velvet too!
