A Shinigami's Scythe

I was in a death like sleep. And I knew it. The last thing I remembered was hearing Tamex’s stressed voice. No doubt he was going insane over having to do the medical on me. Slowly I felt my wounds close, and my mind drifted away towards something I could grasp without losing. My memories.

“Hahahahah,” I laughed. “Whatcha gonna do now Lexian? I win.”

“As if Triskix,” Lexian answered back.

We were both staring at each other. I had a pair of scissors in my hand and a piece of Lexian’s hair in the other. Lexian was giving me such a hateful look, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“I’ll set that emo hair in order,” I smirked.

“And I’ll kick your pyro butt,” Lexian answered.

“Enough you two,” Axel scolded. I turned around just in time to miss head being sliced off by a charkram.

“Axel you need to keep better control of your apprentice,” Zexion sighed.

“As do you Zexion,” Axel answered.

They both looked at each other, but I had turned to look at Lexian. He was smirking, and I did too. Lexian threw a ball of darkness and I met it with a fireball. The explosion made a cloud of smoke, and Lexian and I ran for it.

“You nearly got me in trouble,” Lexian sighed as we bolted down the hall.

“You started it by messing with my order,” I shot back.

We both smirked and continued running. Suddenly the floor turned to ice, and I fell straight on my face. RaXi’s voice laughed, and the sound of Lexian sliding into a wall hit my ears.

“RaXi that’s not nice….” Nyx’s voice started.

“But they deserved it,” RaXi answered.

“Probably,” Xemmsur answered.

“What did they do now?” another voice asked. I turned and saw Tanex smiling at the group that was appearing.

I got to my feet and smirked.

“We didn’t do anything,” I answered.

“Right,” Tanex answered. I didn’t even have to look to see if he was rolling his eyes.

“Well since the master’s aren’t around, let’s….” RaXi started, but she caught me and Lexian looking at each other.

“Marluxia’s closet fun?”” Lexian asked.

I smirked. “Sure,” I answered.

Then the scene changed. And I watched again the destruction of the masters. I felt the feeling of helplessness as I watched Axel help to end them all. And then I watched Axel's end. I recoiled again.

I woke up laughing hystarically. Hearing my own voice I sat straight up. Tamex was looking at me, and I just stared back at him. My entire body felt stiff.

“You might not want to do that,” Tamex said calmly. He didn’t get up, and soon I saw why. Minx was sleeping on his shoulder. I tried to take a breath in but found myself extremely tense. I flipped my legs over the side of the bed and tried to stand. Pain tore through me.

“Like I just said,” Tamex said again. “You might not want to do that. You’ll tear a bit of stitching…..”

“I’m fine,” I answered. “Just unbelievably hungry.”

I didn’t wait for Tamex’s response. I just started towards the kitchen. I managed to make it there without inflicting too much pain on myself. I made myself some coffee and toasted some bread. How long had it been since I’d eaten….I couldn’t even tell. Suddenly I felt another presence in the room.

“Yes?” I asked sharply. A laugh was the response.

“You recovered quickly,” the Leader’s voice answered. “Plans have changed by the way. You will attack Zero’s castle in a week and a half. In that time, I want you to look into a matter for me.”

“Hm?” I answered taking a bite of toast.

“Xerebus is up to something. Either that or his subordinates are. Find out what it is and report back before one week is over,” the Leader said darkly.

Bastard….my thoughts roared, but the Leader didn’t say any more and just left.

I took an aggravated breath inwards remembering what he had done before. Just a bit more…just a bit more and the pact would be broken, and then I would make him pay. Xraktos had destroyed my last nerve, and I would make him pay. The pact would end when his machine came to life. And then I would end Xraktos for making me suffer. I was done being the dog. Time to go back to being what I was before coming back. Time to be the red shinigami again. And when I got what I wanted…..I would fight Xraktos on my own grounds. And I would win. I was done.

A memory twitched in my mind. Axel's face jumped into my mind with sharp persistence and a rare anger of betrayal ran though me. I took a breath in for a moment. When the Masters came back….things would be right again. And I would return the castle to its glory. I would be Axel’s redeemer. I would have fulfilled the job I had assigned myself the day Axel faded. I felt a relaxing fire grow through me. Yes that was what I wanted. It had almost seemed to leave my mind for a bit, but it was back. That was why I was here now. I would bring them back. Even if it cost my life.

I felt my scythe appear in my hand. It begged to kill something. To sever some string of life. I ignored its pull. I took a breath in and opened a portal to Zero’s front gate. I smirked and took a step fowards.
