"Let's start with the white room upstairs..." Marlex suggested as we stepped inside. Immediately I was hit with a surge of Anamx's energy. He was here...clearly and Openly...he was HERE!
My eyes scanned from side to side, top to bottom...there was nothing...not a single trace of anything...the foyer was completely clear and safe. Yet...I stood my ground for quite awhile...until finally Marlex questioned me.
"He's here...isn't he?" He spoke quietly. "What's going on...a trap?"
"That's just it Marlex...there's nothing here." I began...still trying to figure it all out myself. "Yes...Anamx is clearly here...but it's almost TOO CLEAR. Too Open...as though we are being LURED...yet...there are no obstructions at all...it's peculiar..."
"I don't care about petty things like that RaXi..." Marlex almost growled at me. I smirked...he was becoming impatient. "All I want...is to get to Anamx!"
"In one piece correct?" I interjected.
"Pardon?"
"You want to get to him in one piece?" I smirked...a slight tinge of anger in my eyes. "I will NOT rush-in Marlex...falling into a trap would be most unwise...you'd do well to remember procedure."
Marlex didn't say a word. I knew he was truly worried for the boy...but he had to understand...I wouldn't be careless and pay for it with my existence...oh no...I still had unfinished business yet.
"Come." I conceded, heading for the stairs with caution. It was...far too quiet. My senses screamed I was headed for danger...but I continued on...slowly placing my hands to the concealed knives in my sleeves. I turned the knob to the door slowly...signaled Marlex to the side...and threw it open...jumping to the security of the other side.
Nothing happened...it remained silent. Looking over at Marlex...I found him gazing back at me with the very same look of question. Slowly...we both peeked inside...to find Anamx standing near the window...completely motionless...just standing there. Marlex didn't hesitate...he rushed in and over to Anamx.
Grabbing the boy's shoulders...he shook him when he found no response...no emotion...he was completely numb. "Anamx! Come on...we'll get you out of here...hurry now...snap out of it!"
"He won't." A Voice suddenly announced from behind us. "Anamx has finally rid himself of pesky emotions...after all...they only get in the way."
"Serix...You Bast...."
"Really now Marlex...resorting to name-calling? I didn't think it was your style." Serix mocked.
I already had my sword to his neck...just threatening him to move...he merely seemed to laugh it off...well at least the look in his eyes did. He brushed my blade to the side and stepped back slowly into a portal...
"Anamx...why don't you show these two here your newfound resolve?" He spoke loudly to the motionless Anamx. "I don't think they'll be convinced of how you changed...why don't you do us all a favor and rid the world of them...Kill them both." With his final order he disappeared into that portal.
Anamx finally seemed to stir...but my gut was telling me that wasn't a GOOD thing. "Kill....them..." He muttered very lowly.
"Anamx!" Marlex continued to shout...frantically shaking Anamx. This time though...the boy didn't stand idly and take it. He took the shaking as a threat...materializing a sketchbook, he shoved it in front of him defensively and shouted loudly. What looked like a bright light...well to MY eyes...shot Marlex away...and before I could blink he was on the floor...having been thrown against the opposite wall.
"Die." Anamx spoke firmly. He seemed without emotion...spears began to form over his head...and as he motioned his arm...they all cascaded...on a course for the downed Marlex. He was just barely getting to his feet...Anamx was serious.
Taking immediate action I jumped before Marlex and parried all the spears with my sword rapidly. "Stand Marlex!" I ordered him as I stood protecting him.
"I don't NEED your protection RaXi!" He disregarded getting to his feet.
"You're welcome." I commented. "I know you don't want to hear this...but we're going to have to fight him. I don't want to anymore than you do...but something has obviously happened to him Marlex...our words can't reach him now...only our actions stand a chance..."
"I won't..."
"I'm not asking you to hurt him...though that leaves us at a SERIOUS disadvantage...I don't wish to hurt him either. However...I will not stand by and do nothing...I will defend myself." I affirmed.
Sighing heavily, Marlex brought forth his gwan-do. "I will only defend...I refuse to attack him..."
Anamx stared at us...and I noticed for the first time...his eyes were a bright gold...spears began to form in the air above him once more as he readied a follow-up....only now...Marlex and I stood ready...
Question was...just how were we to subdue Anamx...without causing him harm. How were we to...SAVE him...

YUP! Part ONE! I know the next piece'll probably get long...and I'm exhausted...so I think I'll leave it here for now. You know me and battles...I just love 'em. hahaha
