Blood+

Blood+ is my most fave anime. It's the story of a high school girl named Saya who slays vampire-like creatures called Chiropterans. Sounds familiar? "Chiropteran" is actually the scientific name for bats and quite fitting, considering that Blood+'s Chiropterans look like humongous humanoid bats.
Blood+ spans four seasons, 13 episodes in season 1, 12 episodes in season 2, 13 episodes in season 3 and 12 episodes in season 4-50 episodes all in all.
Season 1 is the introduction of the main characters and Saya's mission to kill Chiropterans. It may seem like your regular "slayer" anime at first, but the season ends with an episode that left you wondering what Saya's real connection to the Chiropterans, and why her blood is the only thing that kills them.
Season 2 is more on Saya's search for her identity. In this season, Saya's origins where confirmed and her first meeting with Hagi was shown. Saya and Diva's first confrontation also happened in this season.
Season 3 focused on the pursuit of the progenitor of Chiropterans, Diva. The Schiff are also introduced, and Saya's second confrontation with Diva makes one think that they died together. But the following episode happened a year later, and Saya was revealed to be alive, but much more different than her former self in appearance and convictions.
Season 4 is just the continuation of the hunt for Diva, made more imperative by Saya's impending 30-year hibernation. Here, Solomon asked Saya to abandon hes mission and live a normal life with him, but she refused. The season finally ended with Diva being killed, and with Hagi's seeming death. But it was revealed after the ending credits that Hagi lives, proof of it is the rose he left for Saya in the Miyagusuku tombs.
Blood+ soundtrack is also commendable. Hitomi Takahashi's Aozora no Namida is the upbeat opening song of Season 1, concluded by Chitose Hajime's lachrymose Kataritsugu Koto. Season 2 is welcomed by Hyde's Season's call, which makes one think of Hagi, and ended by another tear-jerker, Mika Nakashima's Cry No More. Colors of the Heart, one of my personal faves by Uverworld, spearheaded Season 3,while This Love by Angela Aki closes it. Last but not the least, Season 4 has for its opening song Jinn's energetic Raion, and has another favorite of mine, K's Brand new Map, as its finish.
Another thing, there was also a live-action movie of Blood: The Last Vampire(Blood+ inspiration) released this year starring Korean actress, Gianna Jun.
And there you have it! Now that you know about Blood+, why don't you check it out? You might love it as i do!
