"Students! May I please have your attention?" Mrs. Shox angrily exclaimed. Everyone snapped to attention at the harsh voice of our teacher, she had never yelled at us before. "There will be some... Changes..."She decided in a softer voice that was an echo of her usual cheerful tone. "As you know, all of you are different from other people. Take Lyra for example, her skin is as cold as ice and she has pointed ears. Today we're going to see what you really are with the help of... Others."

She twittered on nervously but I blocked her out, I was too busy listening to something else... There was a weird sound coming from behind Mrs. Shox. I looked closely and saw a faint outline behind her. "Mrs. Shox! Watch out!" I yelled at my teacher as I pointed behind her. She lept out of the way just as the faint outline turned into a solid inky black and chuckled. "Very good, you're lucky that your students pay careful attention to their surroundings." He turned to us as I scooted closer to my 'sister', Lyra.

"Who are you?" One of the guys challenged, "No one of your concern, human." The black figure flicked his wrist and the boy who challenged him went flying into the wall where he slumped, unconcious. "Anyone else want to ask stupid questions?" He said in a silky smooth, yet dangerous voice, I growled deep in my throat, but I was wise enough to keep my mouth shut. He pratically radiated with darkness. "All of you, come with me!" He barked at us, even Lyra, who usually rebelled against any authority whenever she could, meekly obeyed him.

We followed the black shape along our familiar school halls to the back emergency exit that led to a grassy field. As soon as the door was open, the black figure dissapeared, So, the nasty little booger can't stand sunlight? I thought grimly to myself and made a mental note to remember that. I closed my eyes and breathed in the fresh air of early spring with relief. I didn't like the feeling the black figure gave off and it was a relief to get rid of it. I spent a few more seconds standing there before I jogged over to the middle of the field where all the girls were giggling while all the guys stood back, glaring in the direction of the mob.

I walked over to where Lyra's spikey white hair glittered in the sunlight and stood next to my sister. "What's up?" I asked her as I nodded toward the group of girls. She rolled her eyes, "There's a couple of guys in there somewhere who are supposed to figure out what our so called 'talents' are." I grinned at her sour attitude, "Ya, you're just afraid that you won't be the Queen of Sour Power." "Namira!" She yelled at me as I ducked to avoid the slap that had been intended for the back of my head. I laughed as I danced around her, breaking out into a light sprint when she chased me.

"Namira! Lyra! Knock it off! We're supposed to find out what our talents are!" Our cousin Xylia yelled at us. While I was tall and Lyra was of normal height, Xylia was a petite with curly brown hair and soft brown eyes. I walked over to her, "Alright everyone! Circle up!" The three of us broke out laughing as we heard the dim voice trying to restore order among the giggling girls and the begrudging boys. Our giggling was cut off by a savage growl that immediately silenced everyone.

The source of the growl was a tall boy with deep blue eyes and black hair with four silver hoops in his left ear. "Line up." Was all he said as everyone hurried to obey. He leaned back onto the fence and watched with two others as some of the other boys who were supposed to help us with our 'talents' walked back and forth, looking at us like we were bugs under a miscroscope. Exasperated I gasped, "Can't you just hurry up already? We're not something that you need to study on a miscroscope!" They all turned to me, shocked at my apperence.

I knew they were looking at my naturally unruly ponytail of dark brown hair with black streaks in it and I knew that when they flinched, that they had seen my emerald green eyes with their catlike slits when the sun beat down on them in a certain way. Next I saw them look me up and down, nothing new, I knew the rutine very well when people saw me for the first time. "Who are you?" The closest asked, "Namira Griffiths." I knew that they had heard of the myth behind my family name when they gasped, This was going so well. I thought sarcastically as they backed away from me, I hated when people did that... I heard a faint riffle in the breeze as a voice wispered into my ear, "Do you know what you are?" I smiled, "Do birds fly?" "Show me."

I didn't need to be asked twice as I took off at full speed in the opposite direction of the voice and dissapeared behind a shimmer of silver. I reveled in the speed as my huge paws hit the ground. I heard the gasps as I appeared as a giant snow leopard, another shimmer, a magnificent gray wolf. One more shimmer and I was a black kitten leaping onto my sister's chilly shoulder. I had never revealed that many of my true forms to anyone except my sister, nor did she reveal her truest form to anyone else. I felt her body grow colder and her already pointy ears grow longer as her glacier blue eyes took on hints of silver and the very air around her dropped rapidly below zero.

I heard everyone gasp as my sister, the Ice Maiden, walked up to the group of shocked teenagers. I shifted into my largest form, the giant snow leopard, as we grew colser to the strange boys. A boy with flaming orange hair and grey eyes suddenly burst into flames as he approached Lyra, "I'm Axel." He introduced himself as he shook hands with Lyra. Asured that my sister was safe, I turned into a small brown mouse and as I scurried through the frozen grass, I met another mouse. "Zane." He said, "Namira." I replied back before I swiftly changed into a Peregrine Falcon and perched on Lyra's shoulder as we watched the rest of my classmates slowly reveal their true selves.
