*Boom boom boom* "One second!" A voice yelled from the inside of the house that we were standing outside of.
"Alice! Hurry up! We're freezing!" Matt yelled, being dressed as a doctor he wasn't exactly prepared for the early frost and the heavily falling snow. Just then my best friend opened up the door.
"Like it?" She asked, meaning her costume. She looked exactly like the Alice from the Disney movie except for her short blonde hair was in spikes instead of long and flowy.
"It looks fine, but we're going to be late!" I hopped up and down, causing my hat to fall over my eyes. Everyone laughed as I stuggled with my green top hat, but the sleeves of my long green coat got in my way.
"Need some help?" All of a sudden I could see as the Cheshire Cat lifted up the front of my hat.
"Thanks." I said gratefully as he set it correctly on my head.
"No problem, I've never seen it happen to the real Mad Hatter though." He ducked as I tried to smack him, but I missed by a mile. " 'I'm not all there myself you know.' " He quoted from his favorite character in the movie.
"Now that everyone is here, we should really get going to the dance or else we'll be late." Gina said impaitently as she flicked her long ears out of her face. She should never had said that. All of a sudden Ryan started hopping up and down.
"I'm late! I'm late, for a very important date! No time to say 'hello' Goodbye! I'm late! I'm late! I'm late!"
"Ryan!" We all shouted as we got into the car where Zane's mom was waiting. There was no reason for Gina to worry that we'd be late for the dance, we got there in plenty of time.
"Alice, I think we fell down the wrong rabbit hole." I said as I looked around at all the princesses, knights, and vampires.
"Hate to say it, but the Hatter's got a point." Zane chipped in as he narrowly avoided having his make-shift tail stepped on.
"Maybe we should see if it's not too late for Zane's mom to take us to her Holloween party." Alice suggested. I smirked,
"Are you just saying that so you can fall into the right rabbit whole? There are plenty of them at his house. Who knows, you could even see the Queen." Unfortunately I didn't have the Cheshire Cat's reflexes as Matt tried to smack me. Good news: He missed. Bad News: He knocked my hat over my eyes. "Hey! Who turned out the lights?" I yelled.
"Have we met before?" I heard Zane's voice as he lifted up my hat again with a grin worthy of the real Cheshire Cat.
"Can we go to your mom's house now? I'd rather be on trial by the queen of hearts than staked by a vampire." Everyone agreed as we rushed outside to where Zane's shocked mom was waiting.
"I thought this was going to be the last holloween party at your school that eighth graders could go to. You all said that it would be better than my party." She looked at us suspiciously while she reajusted her crown.
"It was boring." Matt said, "They were all either Princesses, Vampires, or Knights..." Zane's mom grinned as we all traveled to her house and we were quoting lines from our characters until...
"Look, it's a white rabbit!"
"Is he holding a pocket watch?"
"Oh no," I groaned, "I was kidding about the rabbit hole!" Zane chuckled, "You know what they say, 'Be careful what you wish for.'"
