Riku sat idily on the bank with Sora, thinking about the day they had returned to their Island home. It was the last day they had heard from King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, that is until Kairi found the letter. She opened it up and read it to them on the beach, it said:
Dear Kairi, Riku, and Sora,
Heartless have been gathering along with Nobodies in large numbers in a mysterious world called "Eternal Darkness". I need the two of you to check it out while Kairi comes to the Castle. Be on the lookout and remember, things are not always what they seem.
They reread it several times, hoping there was more to the letter, but there was nothing to be found. Sora sighed, "You heard the King, we better check it out."
Riku raised his eyebrows at his friend's tone, "What, don't you want to save the worlds again?"
Sora shook his head, "Things have changed, ever since I was joined with Roxas again, I've been feeling... Weird."
Kairi looked at him and checked his head for fever, " I think you should sit this one out, you don't look too good." Both Kairi and Riku were surprised when Sora didn't argue and silently boarded the Gummi Ship that waited for them where an unexpected surprise waited for them, Roxas.
"Roxas! What are you doing here!" Sora exclaimed weakly, Roxas shook his head and shrugged.
"I don't know, I'd thought I'd become whole when I rejoined Sora, but lately some sort of Darkness kicked me out of Sora so I couldn't be whole." This news was met with silence as they traveled the short distance between Destiny Islands and Disney Castle. As soon as they got to the Castle, Sora could barely stand.
At that Moment, Queen Minnie came in and exclaimed, "Oh dear! The Darkenss has gotten to him! Quick! Get him inside!" They rushed Sora inside the castle to the throne room where Queen Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and King Mickey all hovered over him, worried.
"Don't worry, Merlin will know what to do. Donald, summon Merlin, quick!" King Mickey shouted as Sora doubled over as a black fire started to consume him. Donald quickly summoned Merlin.
"Now what's the pro- Oh dear." He gasped as he spotted Sora lying there on the floor, half consumed by the black flames, "Higitus Figitus... No... That's not it..."
While Merlin was trying to figure out how to freeze Sora so the flames didn't spead Donald raised his staff and yelled, "Blizzaga!" And instantly froze Sora.
"Oh dear." Merlin muttered as he got a close look at the now frozen flames, "I don't know any spells to treat this." Everyone's face instantly fell, "But I know someone who can." He murmered to himself. He raised his wand to the air and called, "Twyla!"
As soon as he called the name, next to him there was a shimmering of stars and then the figure of a girl falling heavily onto her back, "Ouch!" She yelled as she sat up and rubbed the back of her head. "Where am I?" She blinked her light gray eyes a few times and murmered, "Disney Castle?"
"Twyla, can you help him?" Kairi asked the girl on the ground, Twyla's eyes widened, but she nodded and stood up, allowing everyone to get a good look at her. She looked like an average teenager dressed in a black tank top and jeans, but there was something odd about her that none of them could place...
She looked at Sora, "What's wrong with him, Heartless? Looks like they're back with a vengence... Alright, stand back!" With that she jumped back and two twin keyblades appeared in her hands, she pointed them at Sora and twin beams of light hit him and destroying the Darkness and rejoining Roxas and Sora back together in the process.
Everyone blinked a few times, "Well... That was easy." Riku murmered into the silence and everyone was relieved as Sora stood up and blinked, the dark fire completely gone.

Everyone turned to the sound as the doors to the Throne room flew open and thousands of Heartless poured into the room. "Get them out of here!" Sora yelled to Donald and Goofy while pushing Kairi behind him and telling her to run, they immediately escorted Queen Minnie and Daisy out along with Kairi to the hidden chamber under King Mickey's throne. Riku, King Mickey, and Sora lined up, preparing to defend the Castle when Twyla joined their line, twirling her keyblades together and stood in her fighting stance next to Sora.
"What are you doing?" Sora demanded, "It's too dangerous!" But Twyla just rolled her eyes and shook her head as the first wave of Heartless hit them. They fought for what seemed like hours without making a dent when Sora gave up, "It's hopeless! There's too many!"
"I can change that!" And at that Twyla ran ahead of them in a flash of light before anyone could stop her. When she approached a particularly large heartless, she jumped up on his shoulder and leaped upward yelling, "Solar Eclipse!" At that, time seemed to freeze as the image of a full moon apeared above the heartless and as the darkness eclipsed the moon, Twyla's movements sped up until she became too fast for the human eye to follow as she took out the heartless. When the moon was completely eclipsed a few minutes later, all of the heartless were gone as Twyla landed lightly in a crouch in front of the King, Riku, and Sora.
The two boys stood there, open-mouthed, staring at the girl before them. "How did you do that?" Sora exclaimed as he got over his shock.
"Sora, Riku, I'd like you to meet Twyla, the Guardian of the Night. She's secretly been helping you with your journy to save the worlds." King Mickey explained as he walked over to where she had colapsed and helped her up.
"Well, I won't make the mistake of telling her it's too dangerous to leave again." Sora laughed.
"What happens next?" Kairi asked as they rejoined they boys, the King and Twyla in the throne room, "Are the Heartless all gone?"
King Mickey nodded, "They won't be bothering anyone anytime soon."
"That's good." Sora put his arms behind his head.
Twyla looked on this happy scene and felt strangely out of place, "Well..." She said awkwardly, "I guess I'll be going then..."
Everyone looked up, shocked. "You can stay with us if you want." Sora offered.
"Really?"
"Really." At that Twyla squeeled hapily and embraced Riku and Sora at the same time. Then the four newfound friends flew home in their Gummi Ship, wondering what new people they'll meet when they get called on by the King again...
