The glass island

I sighed as Airi snapped back to reality. I lifted her ankle carefully and noticed swelling on the sides. "Yep, see here.", I said as I pointed at the side of her ankle. "What is it?", she asked. "You twisted it really good, and probabl sprained it when the zombie grabbed you on the bridge.", I explained. "That's why you don' feel it hurting, it's swollen and numb. Which is a bad thing.", I said as I tore a piece of my sleeve and wrapped her foot tight in it. "You need to rest a bit or it will get worse.", I said as I gently lowered her foot to a flat stone. "And you need to keep it elevated as much a possible. I would give you some ice, but that's not going to likely happen.", I said as I looked around. It was seriously hot out and shade was scarce. "Anyway, I'll go find some food and water. "I can help you know!", Airi yelled to me and I turned. "And how would you do that? You'll run the risk of breaking your ankle if you stay on it, and I can't have you severly injuring yourself.", I said as I handed her my bag with the books about the spirits. "You can look through these and learn about your spirit or maybe the gem.", I said as I turned to leave. I could hear Airi sigh in the background as I entered the treeline. I walked for a while until I came across some wild mushrooms and berries. I even found multiple varieties of nuts. I stepped over limbs and fallen trees and got to the far right side of the lake. The breeze was refreshing for a change and I stepped into the cool water. Fish swerved around my legs and I pulled a knife. I threw the knife and used telekinesis to move it around. This was easier than trying to grab fish and safer than swinging around trying to hit them. By the time I stared to get hot again, I had a surprisingly large catch. I smiled at the work inhad done and proceeded back to Airi. I went the short route around the lake edge and saw something shimmering on the water. "Seaweed?", I mumbled to myself and picked it up. I collected multiple strands of the plant, and then proceeded back to the rest site. When I got back, Airi was still reading, "I'm back.", I said waving fish around I my hands. Airi looked a tad annoyed that I had left her there but I wasn't sure what to say to her. "Here, I found these at the lake.", I said as I wrapped her foot in the seaweed. "That should help the swelling go down.", I said as I picked up sticks on the ground and lit a fire. "So what did you mean by what you said earlier?", Airi asked as I turned from putting fish on sticks over the fire. "Because I don't want anyone else to be hurt because of my mistakes." I said as I shifted the fish around. "What do you mean?", Airi asked, setting the book she was reading down next to her. "My sister...remember how I told you why my eyes are the way they are? Well, the day we were mugged, I wasn't the only one to get hurt. My sister was there too, and she got the worst of it.", I said in a slightly lower tone. "Oh, that's right! Bason, what is your sisters name anyway?", Airi asked. "Anna. She is two years younger than me." , I said as I pulsed out the nuts, but kept the berries and mushrooms for later. "Anna. That's a nice name. Where is she? Does she go to our school?", Airi asked. I was silent for a bit. "Sorry, I shouldn't be asking so many questions at once.", she said. "It's fine. She's in a comma at a hospital near the school.", I said as I pulled a fish from the fire and handed it to Airi. "She was hit over the head after my eyes got burned.", I said as I sat next to Airi. "That's horrible! What kind of people would do that!?", Airi asked as I sighed. "Bad people...even if they weren't real muggers...", I said trailing off at the end. "What?", Airi asked. "Huh, oh...nothing!", I said. Airi stared at me, but eventually looked away at the fire. "Hey Bason, what's that?", Airi asked, pointing to what looked like an iceberg. "Not sure, but it's not an iceberg. It's glass.", I said as I pointed to the floating island in the lake.
