~Mari~
The bell rang, signalling the end of the day. I sighed, grabbed my bag, and left the classroom. “Wait! Mari, didn’t the principle tell you to meet her in her office after school?” Nami asked me when she realised I was heading in the opposite direction.
“Whatever do you mean?” I put on my best innocent smile. She just sighed. Suddenly, all of the school lights turned off. I turned to Nami, “what the? Is it already that late?” She shook her head, and then smiled as she saw all off the other school ghosts come out from their hiding places.
“Hello, Mari!” One of the boys called out, I knew his name was Nathan.
A few little girls came running up to me, “Mari onee-chan! How are you?”
I smiled and patted their heads, “I’m good. How are you?”
They all looked at each other and giggled. “Dead!” they all called out at the same time, before dissolving into another fit off giggles, and running off.
I laughed as I watched them go. “Aren’t they adorable?” I smiled at Nami, she nodded and smiled too.
As I turned the corner, another ghost ran past me. “Shadow! Shadow where are you?” she called out. Ah, it was Kari. She managed to find shadow, but there was also a man standing there. They were talking, but I was too far away to hear what was being said. The man suddenly put his hand on her shoulder, and she flinched. Whatever he was saying to her seemed to be making her upset.
I was about to go and yell at him, when all of a sudden, he pulled out a gun. I stood there frozen as he shot Kari. “I don’t wanna move on! I don’t wanna die!” Kari cried out as she began to disappear. The man said something else to her, and she relaxed. “Bye,” I knew she had whispered it softly, but her words carried over to me.
I stood there for a second, “bye.” I could feel myself crying. I heard footsteps, and saw the man walking away. I grabbed Nami’s hand, and pulled her forward as I started following him. While he was walking, he pulled out a smoke and lit it. “Disgusting,” I mumbled to myself. Even though it was after hours, this was still a school.
The man started to climb the stairs, after he had been talking to a boy. More people? This was getting ridiculous. “What are you both doing here?” I called out, and they both turned to look at me. No they, weren’t looking at me, they were looking at Nami. I remembered what the man had done to Kari. I quickly grabbed Nami’s hand, “run!” I whispered to her, and we both started running.
