Nino walked along the hall until the sharp sound of footsteps behind him caused him to stop. There was someone moving after him. Letting out a breath, Nino turned around.
"Hey," the almost annoying voice of Emiko called out sharply. Nino felt his eyes move into a glare. He was not in the mood to deal with any more children or childish acts of straight emotion. "I don't know who you think you are-" Emiko continued seeming satisfied that she had registered Nino’s attention as she jabbed a finger at him. “But, I don't think you have any right coming in here and messing our assignment up."
"You seem to be able to handle that on your own," Nino answered back sharply. Indeed, the children had caused too much dramatic affect already, and the ghost and spiritual pressure of the entire school had seemed to go up due to Ryuu’s blatant use of spiritual energy as he made his own weapon.
However, this only seemed to cause a sharp frown to grow on Emiko’s face. Nino just gave a half stare back. There was already a part of him that deemed that he just turn around and ignores the entire situation and return to work.
"Look, we do things our way, you do your thing your way. No need to go insulting us, as we have not done that to you. We may look young, but I assure you, I am leading one the best of the best here. I have been out of high school for two years. I know what I am doing," Emiko said sharply and very proudly.
However, Nino just stared blankly back at her not truly in the mood to deal with such a vice as vanity at that point in time. Instead, he resorted to draining the emotion that had started to work its way into himself, and after a moment, he was completely apathetic once more. Taking a side step, Nino made a motion to leave once more.
“You’re heart bleeds emotion, your vanity knows no bounds, and your spiritual energy is only a bit more controlled than that fool Ryuu,” Nino said sharply as he started away. “If you or your group gets harmed, don’t think that I will come and rescue you.”
“I wasn’t asking to be rescued,” Emiko retorted back with the same causticity that Nino had directed at her.
“Good,” Nino answered back before Emiko could continue with her words.
“Just who do you think you are?” Emiko finally said aloud, and Nino was reminded that she had said something similar to this before. Remaining silent for a full second, Nino allowed his eyes to roam Emiko’s face with an almost overly caustic dexterity.
“I am no one,” Nino answered back. “I lack all things needed to be someone, but by being no one, I can do my job better.”
“Wha-…” Emiko started but suddenly seemed to cut herself off with a thought that had come to her in that moment. Nino’s eyes moved about Emiko’s visage for a full second before he decided that it was of no real importance to anything and looked away with an indifferent look.
Suddenly, Nino tensed. His eyes shot up in that instant, and a feeling of sickness hit his stomach. Emiko seemed to sense this as well for her eyes bounded off down the hallway and towards the strange spiritual pressure that had suddenly built up. However, unlike any other form before, the pressure of the spiritual gradient of this thing that had proved itself to be something far stronger than a ghost by the pressure alone was beginning to twist and format itself sharply.
“Demonic aura,” Nino said darkly, and with that, his gun was already out and aimed directly at the black form that had started to take shape from the mass of spiritual pressure. With a sudden willingness that had not been present with his fight with Ryuu, Nino pulled the trigger of the gun over and over again releasing bullets of spiritual pressure directly at the tormented gale of black spirit matter.
“It’s everywhere!” Emiko seemed to exclaim, and before Nino knew it, a dark mass had formed just to the right of him and had stretched out as if trying to seize him in that instant. Bringing his other hand forwards, Nino forced his spiritual pressure to increase, yet he could not form another gun, and the gun he still had was continuing to shoot bullets at the dark mass. However, it seemed enough to just build enough spiritual pressure to make somewhat of a void space between him and the dark mass, for the dark aura seemed forced back for at least a moment.
“Get away from me!” Emiko growled, and suddenly, Nino felt the spiritual energy of the girl increase sharply. Could she possibly form her own medium? Nino thought to himself in a half second but quickly threw the thought down. No, she lacks shamistic training, and the most she could probably accomplish is a whip as Ryuu demonstrated.
However, just as this thought seemed completely valid to Nino, his eye moved back, and he found that Emiko seemed to be forcing back the darkness as her hands were outstretched in a triangle format. Nino’s adept eyes saw the shield that Emiko had developed almost instantly. So she could indeed formulate spiritual matter at least enough to defend herself. Good.
Turning his eye back to the larger dark mass that was still forming directly in front of him despite the fact that he had launched bullet after bullet into the mass, Nino felt his eyes narrow down. I’m wasting energy. Nino thought to himself. And yet there is nothing I can do but continue shooting at this time.
Suddenly, the dark mass, as if still unaffected by Nino’s bullets, reared up as its body cavity started to take full shape. With a roar that echoed through the school, the beast cried out sharply and finished its transformation. Standing there with its wings fully developed and its anterior as well as posterior formed the gargoyle like creature leered directly at Nino. Feeling a wave of dark aura run through him and down his spine, Nino let out a growl back at the beast.
In that instant, Emiko seemed to turn her head and view the full body of the creature as she still fended off yet another blob of dark mass that had started to form. Her eyes widened for a full second but were then shoved down into a sharp glare.
“Damn it,” she swore sharply. Suddenly, Emiko’s eye grew wide again as she realized that there were more than just one of these demons in the house. “Ryuu! Aisling!” Emiko’s voice echoed in Nino’s ears for a full minute before he could hear again.
“Worry about yourself right now,” Nino ordered, and suddenly, the gun once again morphed in his hands and took on the form of a large sword. Stepped directly forwards to the gargoyle formed demon that was before him, Nino let lose a sharp laugh. “Now the fun starts,” Nino’s voice carried out into the hallway as the beast just leered straight back at him. Behind him, Nino could hear the sudden movements of Emiko as she seemed to be preparing to fight against her own opponent.
Repressing a fully fledged grin, Nino stepped forwards and swung the sword in his hand with the expertise of a master, and with three blows, Nino had cut straight into the shoulder of the beast. However, the demon creature let out another fierce roar and seemed to shake Nino directly off again.
“So you can take a few blows then,” Nino smirked more as he said it. “Good.”
The beast reached forwards and seemed to try and slash the dark haired Nino with the talons that it carried, and yet the dark eyed man raised his sword in an arched fashion blocking the talons only a few inches from his own throat. Indeed this was a worthy adversary. At least there was more to this place than I had thought. Nino smirked to himself. So this was what was causing all the ruckus of the school and why that man was so edgy back where I had left him. This is going to be fun.
