A Fight

“Ryuu! Aisling!” Usually, Ryuu would be able to defend himself just fine, but after the beating he had just taken, I wasn't so sure. His morale would be down and his head had to be killing him. Aisling, I wondered how she would defend herself. At that moment, I realized I had never seen her fight.

“Worry about yourself right now,” Nino ordered, bringing me out of thoughts.

I shook my head as though to clear it. He was right after all. Being distracted would not help us here. A dark matter was forming in front of me, and I decided to lose the shield I had formed and use my own powers. I took a deep breath to center myself and drawing on my own energy, I formed my weapon.

Artemis. Artemis was my weapon of choice. It was a long handled weapon with a blade at the end that could cut through spirits and entities and the like. (It looks like Yuuki's artemis from Vampire Knight). Twirling it in one hand I slashed down towards the mass of dark energy in front of me and easily sliced through its center.

I was hit from behind and turned but could not see anything there; whomever it was was just messing with me, toying with me. I narrowed my eyes and for an instant checked on Nino. He was holding his own pretty well. I wasn't worried, and why should I be? I seriously doubted he was worried about me. I only wished he could understand the full extent of my abilities so that he wouldn't consider me a kid.

My mind thought of Ryuu and Aisling again. I hated not knowing how they were doing. The moment I started thinking about the others, I was struck from behind and shoved to the ground. I swiftly shifted my body so that I landed on my back and was able to defend.

The thing had talon like features it was aiming at me. I grabbed Artemis and was only just able to block it from slicing through my chest. It was about to overpower me when I rolled to the side, dropping Artemis for the moment, which left me wide open for another entity to swoop down on me.

I sensed it coming from behind me. I turned and focused my energy on the entity and sent it crashing to the side, knocking into Nino's foe; the two creatures were scrambled together and fell against the wall. I grabbed Artemis and sliced through the other entity that I had been staving off. Looking back, I found the other two disappeared.

"They won't be gone for long," I said aloud, to no one in particular. I released the energy that was holding Artemis and it disappeared. I glared at Nino. Did he still take me for a little kid?
