Nothing In Particular

“Oh hello hello hello Miss Emiko,” the young boy named Matsu turned his attention on me. “Hah that rhymes. Every time I see you now I will say hello Miss Emiko.” A smile was plastered on his face. Was he always this hyper and upbeat? How did Nino get along with him?

Suddenly, Nino punched Matsu in the face. Matsu was stunned at first, before a light laugh escaped his lips. They were staring each other down; I felt uncomfortable and started backing up as I was beginning to feel a little out of place. Nino turned his head and our eyes met for a moment, nearly glaring. Letting out a light laugh, Matsu put his hand up.

“I think Miss Emiko would like to say something, no?” Matsu smiled lightly as he eyed me.

I lost whatever I had thought of, as I was too distracting thinking about how different the two were, so I changed what I was going to say to, "I- uh- think we should keep our guards up. Who knows when those demon spirits will come back." A gleam appeared in my eye. "Besides, I'd like to see what Matsu can bring to the table. I don't want a liability here."

He chuckled at me; was I amusing to him? I couldn't figure out who I thought was more annoying. Nino and his smugness, or Matsu and his hyperness. I sighed, unsure of how the rest of the night was going to play out. I wanted to take a short nap, to see if my clairvoyance would come through and shed some light on the matter at hand, but I didn't feel comfortable doing it in front of these guys let alone there were demon ghosts running rampage.
