I walked into what was our home base last night.
“You’ve got to be kidding me!” I shouted walking in.
Em’s head shot up off the table.
“You’ve been here all along and you didn’t even let me know?”
“Wha…” She was still half asleep.
“Don’t Wha… me I was stuck going through my junior year again and I could have been helping with the data?”
“Well it sucks to be you doesn’t it?” She smiled. She always did that when I woke her up.
“AHG!” I pulled at my hair “Fine I’m going to go and talk to some of the ghosts.” I huffed storming out of the room.
Instead of finding ghosts I went up to the roof to watch the sunset. The colors in the sky majestically blended together with one another and slowly faded into the never ending darkness that is our night sky. I pulled out my cell phone and flipped it open. “Two more hours.” I muttered to my self standing up and putting it away. As I walked down the stairs I heard a gun shot. “Well Nino must have started.” I sighed stepping back into the school.
I grabbed the handle and I was shocked. “Ow; that was the 7th time today.” I groaned closing the door.
“Maybe you’re just extra static today.”
I turned around and there was a ghost standing there. He looked about 18.
“Maybe you’re right.” I sighed.
“Wow you can see me?” He asked surprised.
“Yea; crystal clear.” I laughed.
“Dude that’s kick ass. By the way I’m Kai, what’s your name?”
“Ryuu. Nice to meet you Kai.”
“Can I ask you something? What did you mean when you said two hours left?” Kai questioned.
“Oh that, in less then an hour it will be my 17th birthday. I was born at exactly midnight.”
“That’s sweet so you actually have 24 hours for your birthday.” Kai said.
“Yea I guess so.” I answered. I heard light foot steps coming down the hall. “You might want to get out of here and lay low for a while Kai.”
“Alright; talk to you later Ryuu.” He faded away.
“You might be light on your feet kid but not light enough for me not to hear you.” I smirked turning around.
“Excuse me who are you calling a kid?” it was Zoey.
“Zoey?! What are you still doing here?” I stuttered.
“I was hired to beat demons. How about you?” She looked at me suspiciously.
“I was hired to find out if there were any ghosts in this school. Right when I got here that was an obvious factor.” I answered. “If you wanted to exterminate demons you should have been here last night.” I laughed starting to walk away from her.
“Hey where do you think you’re going?” She shouted at me.
“Leaving what’s it look like I’m doing?” I answered.
I was walking past a window when something burst threw the window I felt some glass jab into my fore arm and the thing scratched across my face.
“Damn it. Today just is not my day.” I groaned clutching me arm as the blood streamed out of my arm and down my face.
