I watched as the spirit disappeared back into the card.
“Great that’s the last thing I need is to be in debt to someone.” I muttered placing my head in my right hand and propping my self up with my left.
“Here you go.” Matsu said handing my phone.
“Thanks… some way to spend a birthday.” I sighed placing the phone back in my pocket.
Matsu kept his hand extended to help me up. I took it and winched at the pain that shot up and down my arm from the glass. I let go of his hand instantly and hit the floor. “Ahhh…” I felt my body start to shake. I tried gripping the ground but the tiles just slid under my fingers as I clenched them into fists. My heart felt like it wanted to rip out of my chest. “What’s…going…on?” I muttered trying to gain control of my muscles again.
“Something to remind you of our little meeting.” I herd the demons voice say in my head.
Then my back felt like it was on fire. The pain finally dulled.
“You all right?” Emiko asked running over to me.
“I’m okay, it’s nothing you have to worry about.” I said not worrying her standing up.
“What’s this?” She asked touching my back where there was still a dual pain.
It felt like she entered my memories a second later her hand was off of my back and she stepped away from me.
“Emiko what did you see?” I asked in shock of what memory she saw.
She backed away from me again. I snagged her wrist and pulled her back to me. “What memory did you see?” I asked sternly not letting go of her wrist. I wish I could say that I was looking down at her but she was almost an inch taller than me.
“Tell me it isn’t true. That you’re not the devils son.” It was more like she was begging me to say that I wasn’t but obviously I couldn’t hide it any longer. The burning on my back felt like a snowflake emblem that’s one of the crests for one of the seven demon lords.
“It’s the truth, I’m sorry Emiko.” I muttered.
Her hand slipped out of mine and tears started to swell up on the corners.
“Em…” I started taking a step towards her. She just ran.
I started after her but Nino caught my shoulder.
“This is for her to figure out.” I said not looking down at me.
I watched her figure fade into the darkness.
