Elle and I were left alone, wandering the school. I had planned on going to the base, but I had felt restless and decided to go along the perimeter of the school to check out everything. Elle hadn't wanted to be alone, so she ended up following me.
"Look, Elle, can we put our differences aside and not fight in front of the others?" I asked her. It was embarrassing to be fighting with her all the time. I didn't want to look weak in front of the others, especially with everything else going on, and I didn't want anyone to be worrying about me.
I glanced over my shoulder at her to see her reaction; she was a few feet away from me. "I suppose I can muster up some control over my emotions when I am around you, however hard that might be," she responded, flipping her silky smooth hair over her shoulders.
I sighed, "Thank you."
We continued walking when I heard a scuffle happening at the entrance of the school. Curious, I turned the corner, expected to find some kids screwing around, but instead, I found a young girl with a pool of blood around her. A figure with a blade hovering over her.
"Stop!" I cried as I raced forward. The figure didn't stop, slashing the blade through the air. I threw my body in front of the girl, this girl I didn't know, and felt the blade slice through my flesh from my neck and shoulder down to the middle of my back, where it stuck. I cried out in pain as I fell atop the girl. Spots were beginning to form in my sight.
-Elle-
Emiko had rushed forward recklessly and had gotten injured pretty seriously. I raced forward to help. If anyone was going to kill my cousin, it wasn't going to be by this guy! The figure was reaching for the knife, probably so he could finish the blow.
I grabbed the guys hand, realizing this guy was different. He wasn't normal, not a regular human. I twisted his arm and kicked him in the stomach. Those karate classes were going to come in handy. I glanced down at Emiko and the girl. Both were in states of shock from the pain and blood loss. I was not going to be able to do much to save either one of them. I would be lucky if I could fend off this guy.
The guy chuckled at me, getting back up and making his way back towards me. "This will be interesting. I could do with a few more souls."
"Souls?" I asked quizzically as I held my ground. I couldn't run away, not when there was two people's lives at stake.
The guy lunged forward, but I dodged to the side, kicking his feet out from under him. I stepped forwards, hovering over him, ready to kick him, but he grabbed my ankle and brought me down to the floor on top of him. I punched him in the nose as I scrambled away from the creep.
But, he was quick and after me. He grabbed my neck and lifted me up off the ground where my feet dangled in the air, kicking spastically. Using my flexibility to my advantage, I kicked him in the side and he dropped me, but not before he managed to bang my head against the wall sending pain shooting through my body. I raced over to Emiko and ripped out the knife, turning just in time to stab him in the chest.
He stumbled for a moment. I took the time to grab the blade again and stab him in the heart, twisting it around in his flesh. He cried out before dropping to the floor. I fell to my knees in pain and exhaustion. I sighed as I felt my head, I was going to have a major headache later and a bruise. I raced over to Emiko and the young girl. I looked over the wounds and saw that the girl was probably worse off than Emiko.
I was afraid to leave either one alone, but there was no way I was going to be able to carry them both. I needed help. But, the young girl would need help before Emiko. She had lost way more blood then Emiko, but Emiko had already lost consciousness and was bleeding profusely.
"Help! Someone help!" I cried, hoping someone would hear me.
