Revenge

“Why can’t we just go in and kill her now?!” Madb growled impatiently. The crow demon sisters had been watching the house of the Moratoriums for over an hour and Madb was getting antsy.

“Not with the other ghost seers are with her,” Morrigan said darkly. “They’ll get in the way. We must separate her from them… then she’s ours.”

“Oh the old Divide and Conquer scheme huh?” Madb cackled. “Like that hasn’t been done before.” She said sarcastically.

The two crows perched on the telephone wire watched the house and waited for their sister Macha to return from spying on them.

“But sister…” Madb said her tone turned nervous. “What if Lord Noiren finds out…he didn’t order us…”

“I don’t give a damn anymore!” Morrigan snapped. “I have wanted over seven hundred years. We have to do this now before Áine tells her everything and that brat will become stronger. We will act now tonight when she’s still a weak little girl and then we will have her head as a trophy.”

“Okay if Noiren finds out you’re on your own.”

They saw their sister Macha fly over to them from the house. She landed on the wire next to Morrigan. “She’s alone. It’s now or never.”

“Perfect,” Morrigan said if she had lips she would be smirking. “Madb you know what to do.”

Madb nodded and looked back at the house and began to work her magic.

Aisling calmed down after seeing the crow. Was that Morrigan? The last time she saw her was at the school. But didn’t Ryuu have said that she was killed… how can she be still alive? Aisling turned around to join the others and tell them about what she learned but stopped when she saw the White Rabbit ghost boy was standing on the other side of the hall.

He looked very different the last time she saw him. His skin was grayish and sickly looking and his eyes were hollowed and tears were falling down his face. Something told her to run but she couldn’t stand seeing a child cry. She walked over to the ghost boy. “What’s wrong? What are you doing here?”

“Help …me…” the ghost whispered and faded through the wall behind him.

“Wait!” Aisling said. She hurried to the front door and went outside. She didn’t see the crows that were watching her. She saw the ghost running down the street and followed him.

She walked for several blocks until they reached an abandon park. It was really eerie. The grass looked like they haven’t been mowed for weeks and the playground equipments looked old and rusted. The swings swayed in the wind making a creepy creaking sound. Aisling shivered and looked at the ghost boy who had his back turned to her.

“Why are you here? What’s wrong? I thought you had crossed over…” Aisling felt her heart skipped a beat when she realized she couldn’t sense any emotion from the ghost. But now she sensed one thing; malice.

The entity turned his head in a one hundred and eighty degrees turn. A creepy Cheshire cat smile cracked his face. Aisling stepped back and realized this was not the ghost from the hospital. It wasn’t even a real spirit.

It changed before her eyes and took a form of a giant eel like creature. It pounced and snuck its sharp teeth into Aisling’s shoulder. She screamed and then saw a familiar flash of silver light and a burst of dark smoke and black feathers.

Brant appeared and had driven his sword through the creature destroying it. Aisling’s knees buckled and she sank to the ground clutching her shoulder which was now bleeding badly.

“M’ Lady!” Puck appeared and hovered close to her face.

“Puck…” Aisling breathed and cringed in pain as her shoulder throbbed. Puck looked at the wound, jolted when he saw the blood and said, “You must summon Kelpie quickly!”

Aisling opened her mouth. Instead of speaking she screamed. Pain coursed through her body. It was sharp and each time she breathed it increase in intensity.

“Poor thing she’s been poisoned.” A familiar voice laughed Aisling shakily raised her head to look up.

Morrigan stood before them resting a black colored blade on her shoulder lazily. She gazed at Aisling’s pained form with a look of satisfaction and spite. A wicked sadistic smirk cracked her gaunt face. “Your body is feeling sharp pain with every breath you take and it grows worse with every moment. Soon your body will paralyze but the pain will continue until you die a slow and painful death.” The dark woman’s grin grew and showed sharp teeth. She looked like what Aisling was going through was the most wonderful thing ever to happen.

Trembling Aisling hunched over and her nails dug into the dirt. Just like Morrigan said every time she breathed pain burned in every inch of her body. Was she really going to die? Puck flew around frantically unsure of what to do.

Brant charged at Morrigan ready to take his sword and chop her head off. But Morrigan stopped him by blocking his attack with her own sword. “Just like old times eh knight?” cackled the dark woman.

Brant pushed forward and forced his sword against Morrigan’s blade. She took step back and a black feathered and scaly wing grew from her back. The wing flapped and showered black feathers at the knight. The feathers were like blades and deadly sharp. They scratch against his armor making the sharp nails on chalk board screeches. But Brant was unfazed by the attack and stood his ground.

Morrigan saw this and sighed in annoyance. Still the stubborn valiant fool. Morrigan opened her mouth wide and two eel like creatures came out and dropped to the ground. One of them slithered around Brant and grew in sized until it was the size of an anaconda. It coiled around the knight and gave him a bone crushing hug. Brant struggled and couldn’t break free.

“My lovely is giving you a hug how cute.” Cooed Morrigan and cackled.

“Help!” Puck yelled as the other eel captured him in the same tight hug. In the creatures mouth was a silver box; Aisling’s case for her Tarot cards. Aisling was lying on the ground shaking and desperately trying to move but her body was refusing. She was paralyzed.

I have to help Puck and Brant but I can’t move I can’t even speak. I won’t be able to call for help, Aisling thought. She racked her brain for a plan or something but she couldn’t think straight with the pain distracting her. She watched Morrigan walked over to the other eel and took the card case from its mouth. “Thank you my lovely pet.” She leered with disgust and loathing at the silver case. “The damned Taoitear Spiorad…” She said to herself darkly. “This will be the last time you’ll interfere with my plans…” Her eyes flashed and the card case burst into dark flames.

NO!!! Aisling could only scream in her head as she watched the flames engulf her precious Tarot cards.

Puck screamed and Brant choked out a noise of pain behind his face plate. Aisling watched in horror as their forms changed to something resembling burning paper and then they faded away. No! NO!! NO!!! NOOO!!!! Tears fell from her face as she sensed Puck, Brant and the other card spirits’ spiritual pressures diminishing. In her mind buried memories of her child hood resurfaced.

“Who are you?” The four year old said to the little fairy that came out of the card. “I’m the Page of Wands nice to meet you. I’m one of the Taoitear Spiorad of the Tarot. That means ‘guardian spirits’. You’re our master.”
“Wow!”
~
“You don’t have names?”
“Nope. We used to but we forgot. It’s been so long since we’ve been awaken. I miss having names.”
“Can I call you Puck?”
“Wha? The Trickster from Shakespeare’s Greatest Hits? Okay but I think something cooler would suit me more.”
“You’re not cool you’re just funny and cute.”
“Hey!”

At the old school house in Ireland young Aisling was being bullied.
“You’re a Changeling aren’t you?”
“My grandfather says that Changelings are ugly monsters in disguise.”
“Eeeewww you’re a monster?!”
“Go away freak!”
~
Aisling came home crying.
“M’ Lady what’s wrong?”
“It’s you’re fault! Everyone thinks I’m a monster because they saw me talking to you! I can’t go back to school ever again!”
“Wha…but M’ Lady…”
“Go away! I don’t want to see you or the other card spirits again!”

The images and voices faded away. Aisling’s eyes squeezed shut. I’m sorry…she thought feeling tears fall from her face.

Morrigan leered down at her and cackling maliciously. She dropped the smoldering card case and it fell to the ground inches away from Aisling’s hand. Aisling stared at the once beautiful silver box that was now black and tarnished. Her hand trembled as she tried to reach it but now completely paralyzed she couldn’t move an inch.

“W…w…why…?” Aisling breathed out her voice was almost incoherent.

Morrigan stared down at the girl. Her black eyes suddenly burned. “Why?” She twirled her sword in her hand and stabbed it into Aisling’s hand that was next to the blackened card case. Paralyzed Aisling could only flinch from being stabbed.

“Why do you ask?” Morrigan knelt down and grabbed Aisling’s chin to force her to look at her. Black eyes glared darkly into the crying green eyes.

“It’s your fault,” The dark woman said grinding her teeth. “You sent us to the Fort of Sorrows and made us what we are now…” Hatred, scorn and bitterness blaze off of Morrigan. It was so intense that it made Aisling forget about the pain, the fact that she was dying and the loss of her card spirits for a moment. “We, my sisters and I became the Fallen because of you!” Her sharp nails dug into Aisling’s face and thin trails of red blood fell.

“Now I will end you’re miserable existence and finally have my revenge. Once you die I will take your soul so you’ll never escape and reincarnate again Brighid.” She cackled manically.

Aisling stared at her but her vision was beginning to fade and she felt her heart beat growing slower and slower. Someone…help…me…

Áine sensed her granddaughter was endangered. Although the sisters did very well to hide her spiritual pressure and made it seemed she had disappeared from the face of the earth. They underestimated the bond the angel had with her mortal family.

In a matter of seconds the arch angel appeared at the abandon park. She froze when she saw Aisling lying on the ground with Morrigan standing over her.

“GET AWAY FROM HER!!!” Áine roared. Four wings made of white light materialized from her back and fanned out behind her. She summoned her spiritual energy into her hand and created a rapier. She sprang forward with lightning speed and wielded her sword in her hand.

Morrigan jumped back before she was struck by the blade, her black wings fanned out and she flew into the night sky. She stopped and hovered with she was over fifty feet in the air and glared down at the angel.

“Prepare to be purified you abomination,” The angel said sharply her eyes burning with fury turned violet.
