“GET AWAY FROM HER!!!”
…who’s that…?
Aisling felt cold and heavy. She could see nothing but darkness. Was this death?
“Do you want to die?” A voice whispered in her head.
…who are you…
“Who am I?” The voice sounded amused. “I am everything. I am the light, I am the dark, I am the truth, I am the lie, I am death, I am life…I am you!”
…is that a riddle?
“Hmmm yes and no.” The voice laughed. Aisling’s mind was too disoriented to guess if the voice was famine or masculine. A voice in her head talking to her in riddles. Was she going mad?
“Answer my first question. Do you want to die?”
No of course not.
“Really? You have to have the inner strength if you desire to live another day and more. Get a back bone already!” The voice almost yelled and echoed in the psyche of Aisling’s mind.
She could see light and felt pleasant warmth of energy wash over her. It felt very familiar and it pushed back the pain she was feeling.
You didn’t tell me who you are.
“Oh yes that's right. What would you like to know?”
A name would be a nice start.
“Okay,” The voice said in a chirpy voice. The light was growing stronger and it was forcing Aisling to open her eyes. “You can call me…Bree!”
Aisling opened her heavy eyelids and felt a sharp wave of pain but also the warmth that brought her out of the darkness. What happened? She raised her eyes up at a sky where a battle between an angel and a demon was taking place. She stared at the familiar red head with two pairs of wings that looked like they were made out of light. Nana?
“Your attacks are going to be in vain Áine!” The other winged being shouted at Aisling’s grandmother. “Once your descendant dies I will take her soul and have it go through eternal Damnation worse than me and my kin had gone through!”
“Morrigan the metamorphous you went through was of your own doing.” Áine said solemnly. “You didn’t make peace with your inner demons and thus you became one.”
“SHUT UP!” The dark woman roared and swung her double swords at the angel. But Áine skillfully blocked them with her rapier. It was amazing that her light and slender sword was able to block and fight against the two broad swords.
As Aisling watched the fight she noticed something strange. Every time Áine wings flapped there was like a strong, warm static pulse. She felt it pass through her and the pain from the poison was ebbing away. But the energy pulse was only lessening the pain not healing her. Aisling was still dying she could feel the poison growing stronger and she was still paralyzed head to toe. She wanted to scream for help but was too weak and breathing was still a nightmare because of the poison. She wished her grandmother could help her but Aisling knew she had to fight Morrigan.
Aisling looked up at her bloody hand and saw the destroyed card case. Fresh tears flooded from her eyes as she remembered what happen like a knife in the heart. Were they really gone? She couldn’t sense them but she could hardly think straight to concentrate on the smallest trace of spiritual pressure. She remembered back to her childhood memories of Puck and the other card spirits.
I’m sorry…I’m so sorry… Aisling thought as she quietly sobbed. How could they forgive her after what she sad? Puck made no mention about it after the few days seeing him again. She remembered how happy he was she first saw him at the school. Back then was he upset at all?
Please God…she prayed silently. If you you’re watching or even care please don’t let them be gone. I never told them I’m sorry…
Áine paused to look down at the still form of the red head girl. She sensed she was still alive but barely. She had to be healed soon, the energy waves her wings gave off wasn’t enough. But she couldn’t stop her fight with Morrigan or else she’ll try to kill Aisling again. What she really needed was someone to take her place fighting the Fallen Goddess.
“Aisling!” Someone shouted. Áine and Morrigan had paused momentarily in the middle of their fight to look down at the earth bellow.
Áine saw the two of the ghost seers enter the park and one of them was the dark haired shaman named Nino. Yes that was want she needed. Morrigan saw them run towards her pray.
“NO!!!” The Fallen screeched in fury. She dived down and headed towards the red headed girl. “SHE IS MINE!!” Morrigan screeched raising her sword her was action to kill the girl and take her soul once and for all. Gun shots rang in the night. Morrigan hissed in pain as she was hit in the chest and her wings. She backed away and glared at the dark haired man who as he pointed his gun at her. She took a deep shaking breath and felt her wounds heal themselves quickly.
“YOU DAMN SHAMAN!!!” She screamed and fired razor sharp feathers at him. She laughed maniacally confident that there was no way he could defend himself against that attack. But her laughter died as Áine jumped in and stood in front of the shaman.
Her shining wings folded in front of her creating a shield and the dark feathers were easily deflected. “NO NO NO!!!” Morrigan screeched. “GET OUT OF THE WAY!!” She glared at the angel as she unfolded her white wings.
“As an angel it’s my duty to protect humans and led ghost seers and shamans a hand.” Áine said brushing a lock of pinkish red hair away from her face. Her eyes stared back at Morrigan darkly. “And it’s a grandmother’s nature to protect her grandchild.”
Áine saw the dark eyes of the shaman looked at her in surprise. She smiled at him and then looked back at Morrigan. “You should quit now Morrigan you are out numbered.”
Morrigan raised an eye brow and smirked wickedly. “Out numbered you say?” She jumped into the air and hovered high above their heads. She opened her mouth wide and black birds flew out of her mouth like magician’s magic trick of birds flying out of the hat or small box, only they weren’t cute little white doves but big black nasty looking birds with burning blood red eyes. They were so many of them maybe hundreds of them. They circled around the park in the sky. Áine cursed under breath. She had no time for this.
She turned to the shaman, “You’re Nino right?” He stared back her with a look of surprise and maybe suspicion. “I’m Áine okay introductions aside. Can you handle the crazy goddess reject while I deal with her pets?”
Nino looked at her and nodded. “Thank you,” Áine said with a quick smile and then flew up into the sky.
As soon as she was in the middle of the swarm they attacked viscously. They clawed and picked at her flesh, wings and hair. She hissed in pain and closed her eyes. When her eyes shot open they glowed brightly and a bright aura of gold light pulsed around her. She sharply spread her wings out and forced her purifying spirit energy over the birds that Morrigan conjured up. They screeched as they were bathed in light and then dissolved into dust and feathers. The wounds they inflected on her were gone as well.
Áine looked back down and saw that Morrigan had summoned her serpents. Nino was shooting at the eels and the red head woman named Emiko was also battling the creatures. The angel saw Morrigan charging at her from the corner of her eye and dodged. “You summoned those ugly chickens to distract me.” Áine said to the dark woman.
“Yes I did,” Morrigan smirked and cackled. “It won’t be long now. The girl is just a breath away from the cold arms of death.”
The angel’s violet eyes widen as she sensed her granddaughter’s spiritual pressure fading away. Morrigan was right Aisling had only a few moments to live. No…
“Aisling Emiko!”
“Nino!”
Áine’s head whipped around and she stared down as she saw the empathic shaman Matsu and Asa’s child Ryuu ran into the view and joined the others battling with the serpents.
Morrigan froze as she stared at the newcomers. If they were alive then that meant her sisters…The Fallen Goddess growled and snapped her fingers. “Retreat!” She snapped at her serpents. They stopped fighting the humans and vanished.
Morrigan flapped her wings and flew away. “THIS ISN’T OVER!” She screamed for all them to hear. “I WILL GET MY REVENGE!” and then she was gone.
Áine took a deep breath and flew back down to the ground. Emiko was holding Aisling as Matsu examined her wounds. “She’s been poisoned.” Matsu said quietly.
“Dammit,” Ryuu cursed under his breath. “Can you heal her?”
“He can not cure Morrigan’s poison,” Áine said walking over to them and folded her wings behind her back. Matsu and Ryuu stared at her as she knelt down beside the white haired shaman and looked at her granddaughter. “This is only way to cure her.” She held up her hand and produced a snow white feather. She let it go and the plum floated in an unknown breeze and landed gently on the serpent’s bite on Aisling’s shoulder.
The feather glowed and the wound grew smaller and vanished. Aisling was still and Áine and the others held their breath waiting and then Aisling breathed and her eyelids shifted. Áine sighed in relief and smiled as Aisling began to open her eyes. But the smile quickly vanished when she saw that the pupils in the green eyes didn’t look right. Instead of round they were diamond shaped like Áine’s. Aisling blinked and her pupils were normal shape again. Áine stared, did she imagined that? To make sure she gripped Aisling’s unwounded hand and felt a tremor go through her. No she didn’t imagine that her granddaughter’s already going through the metamorphous.
Áine stood up. “I must go,” she said keeping her voice even. “Please take care of her and heal her other wounds.” She said to Matsu. She turned to Ryuu and gave an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry this ruined your birthday.”
Ryuu blinked at her. “Ah…it’s okay…”
Áine smiled and walked several paces away from them. She stopped, cocked her head and stared up at the stars. She turned to look at Nino. “Your brother is with Aisling’s friends Mari and Kaki. They need your help.” She looked at them all and smiled, “Until me meet again.” She spread open her wings and took off into the night sky.

Morrigan stood at a building staring out at the city with hollowed eyes. It wasn’t supposed to happen like this. It wasn’t fair, she was so close and then those damn ghost seers had to ruin everything. She stared at the two feathers that belonged to her sisters in her hand. She greeted her teeth and added those ghost seers along with the Moratorium to her metal list of people she was going to kill under that accursed angel and the reincarnation of Brighid.
“Morrigan,” she heard her master’s voice said behind her. “Are you not going to revive your sisters?”
“Lord Noiren,” Morrigan said calmly. She should be scared now that her master was there but she could feel nothing but bitterness of losing her chance of revenge again. “I will in a minute…”
“It seems you failed to kill the girl and take her soul,” Noiren commented in a monotone.
Morrigan made no reply. She closed her fingers around the feathers, turned around and kneeled before the demon lord. “My lord please forgive me for acting without your permission,” she said in a solemn voice her head hung low.
Noiren said nothing and then nodded, “I knew all along and let you go anyway but you and your sisters failed anyway.”
Morrigan nodded slowly, “My lord I have a favor to ask you?”
“……what is it?”
“I would like to leave the country for a short period and gathered more forces for the war.”
“Where do you plan on going?”
The Fallen Goddess smirked. “To find more kin,”
“But you are banished from your mother country are you not.”
“Not Ireland sir I plan to go to Scotland,” she said. “It will not take long I promise.”
Noiren said nothing but stared out into the human city, “Does this have something to do with revenge?” His yellow eyes looked into her black orbs. “………fine you may go but do not take long.”
Morrigan bowed, “Thank you my lord.” She smirked if this goes will she might get her revenge after all.
