"The vessels are supposed to be convening in one place soon," the voice from the light told me as I stood in the empty darkness.
"Where is this place?" I asked it, wishing I could see the voice's face.
Instead of the answer I wanted, I suddenly saw a figure appear in front of me, and I knew exactly whom it was. "Aoi," I whispered.
"You must watch out for Nino," she told me softly, her voice quiet.
I shook my head. "He wants nothing to do with me. I can't reach him. After you died, he closed himself off, it would seem," I told her the truth, sparing nothing.
It was her turn to shake her head, her hair flowing around her. "No, he just isn't good with social situations. You must fight to get close to him. He will resist, but he will eventually let you in."
I shook my head. "I don't want this." I fell to my knees, despising myself for how weak I had become.
"It is a destiny one cannot escape."
I shot up, a scream caught in the back of my throat. I panted heavily, as I moved the hair out of my face. Looking around, I found I was laying on my own bed. But, I had been in that alley with Nino and that new guy. Nino must have taken me home. I would have to thank him for that later.
I glanced at the clock and saw it was nearly three in the morning. No way was I going to be falling asleep anytime soon. Grabbing my phone, I decided I'd shoot Ryuu a text message.
I want to apologize for earlier. Forgive me? I feel like I jumped you prematurely. I want you to explain to me what's going on. Call or come over any time tomorrow.
I got up and found Elle hunched across the kitchen table. Picking up some of the papers, I saw she had printed out a bunch of different dreams she had had. Ryuu seemed to be in most of them. He was with the demon counsel and training. Then, Elle shot up quickly, suddenly, scaring me so badly, I fell onto my butt.
She reached out for a pen and started scribbling something on a piece of paper. "What? What is it, Elle?" I asked, getting up and jumping beside her, reading what she was writing.
"It's Matsu. He's been taken!"
