Training meeting

Aisling kept glancing up at the sky. ‘I’m sure I saw another one fly by or was it the same one…”

“If you keep looking up at the sky you’ll snap your neck.”

“Huh?” Aisling said blankly looking at Sephira.

“Why do you keep looking up? Are you looking for UFGs?”

“UFGs…?”

“Unidentified Flying Ghosts,” Sephira explained grinning.

“Oh,” Aisling said. “Are you done eating?”

“Yep,” Sephira threw the crumpled paper wrappers and bag into a trash can. “Thank you so much. I wish I could pay you back I don’t have any money on me right now. You wouldn’t know if there’s a ghost case that needs solving?”

Aisling immediately thought back to the school. “Well...me and other ghost seers are working on a case at a school but…no it’s probably not a good idea.”

“Why? Don’t want more competition?”

“No it’s not that,” Aisling said shaking her head. “We actually could use more help…it’s just that we’re having really bad demon problems…”

“Really? Well no sweat I can handle demons. Before I met you I was being chased by a demon but I dealt with him no problem!” She said grinning at Aisling.

Aisling looked at her and looked at the crescent shaped gem on her forehead. She had a feeling what ever power Sephira had was connected to the gem. “What kind of demon was it?” Aisling asked her. “Was it in human form?”

“Yeah,”

Aisling nodded. The demons that took the form of humans were usually the strongest. “Okay…I’ll give you the school’s number.”

After wards Aisling said goodbye to Sephira and went on her way back home.

“That was probably not a smart thing I did,” Aisling muttered to herself as she walked back to her house. “But…something told me that she can handle it,” She shrugged and walked down the block.

Áine had made lunch for Mari as they sat in the kitchen. Kaki had already eaten but wanted more milk. She gave him another cup and put a colorful twist straw in it. He was confused at first but after Áine showed him how to use it he was drinking happily through the straw and had figure out how to blow bubbles on his own.

“Don’t do that you’ll make a mess,” Mari told Kaki.

“Sorry,” Kaki said.

Áine smiled. “You two are so cute together. Molly said you could be a couple but maybe not since Kaki is still a baby in a way...” She giggled when Mari chocked on her soda.

“Wh-what?!” Mari spluttered blushing in a bright shade of pink. Kaki looked confused. Áine laughed at their expressions.

“That’s not funny…” Mari muttered.

“It’s only a joke,” Áine said lightly then her face turned serious. “But now there is something we have to discuss.”

“What is it?”

“The demons that attacked you last night I’m sure it will not be the last time. I have a feeling that they’re after you.”

Mari looked shock, “Why? What do they want from us?”

Áine said nothing and glance at Kaki. She had a strong feeling that they were after him but she wasn’t exactly sure why. She could tell that there was something special about him concerning his spiritual abilities. She also knew that two days ago he was only a small baby. She wasn’t sure what he was exactly; a human couldn’t possible change like that over night but she didn’t sense anything demonic about him and she wasn’t sure if he was angelic decent. It was quite a mystery.

She looked at them and said in a serious but gentle voice, “I’m afraid you two will face dangerous situations but I see that you have potential in protecting yourselves by reading your spiritual auras.”

Mari stared at Áine, “Really?”

Áine nodded, “Yes. I am going to train Aisling and I might as well train the two of you. I will teach you both how to protect yourselves against demons and help others. Kaki seemed to have a specialty in healing powers which is very important.”

Mari nodded, “Yeah he healed Matsu when he was badly hurt right Kaki?”

Kaki nodded.

Áine smiled, “Well what do you say? Do you want me to train you?”

Mari and Kaki looked at each other and then back at her. “Yes,” said Mari with a determined expression.

“I want to become strong so I can protect Mari,” Kaki said and Mari looked at him surprised.

“Good,” Áine said smiling. “I will like to discuss on training plans when Aisling gets back.”

“Where is Aisling?” Mari asked her.

“She should be coming back soon,” Áine replied.

When Mari and Kaki left the kitchen Áine cleaned up. She thought about her granddaughter and became worried.

“I’m sure she’s fine if something bad happened to her I would have sense it.”

She kept herself occupied by cleaning the dishes. They had a dish washer but she preferred to work with her hands. Working with her hands on simple choirs made her feel human again. When she was in Heaven she didn’t do such things.

Her husband Patrick was out giving music lessons at a far away community center. Molly and Richard were both at work and won’t be home till late at night. Tomorrow they both have to go out of town for awhile on business. Tonight Áine planned on turning the unused room in the cellar into a training arena. She also had to strengthen the barrier around the property to keep demons out. It was the kind of barrier that the only way a demon could enter was if someone who lived on the property allowed them in just like in Vampire myths. Mari and Kaki were staying at the house so it made them residents so Áine would have to tell them about the barrier.

She was cleaning the rest of the kitchen when she heard the dog Baron persistently barking. Áine frowned and went outside. She walked to the front of the house and found Baron and Aisling.

“Aisling!”

Aisling was slumped on the ground with Baron standing by her anxiously. Áine hurried over when she saw Aisling’s face she backed away. She realized Aisling’s soul must have separated itself from her. Áine stared at Aisling’s still form and focused her senses. She was able to see what looked like threads floating around Aisling. Áine relaxed a little this meant that the soul was still connected to Aisling’s body.

Áine leaned closer to Aisling and said sharply, “Aisling wake up!”

The glassy green eyes blinked and Aisling moved into a sitting position. “What the…?”

Áine sighed and helped Aisling stand up, “Come inside dear. I’ll make you something to drink.”

Aisling silently nodded and they went inside.
