Enter: Priestess and Demon

The door to the backyard opened leading the young man out to the beautiful courtyard. Balancing the tea tray expertly with one hand he walked over to the girl in fitted dark blue jeans and black Lolita blouse sitting in a chair at a tea table looking to the morning sky. Placing the tray down in front of her he started pouring the tea, “Lady Ariana, tea’s ready.”

Dark gold eyes fixed themselves on the tea, “Thank you Christian,” Ariana said with a smile, “what tea is it today?”

“Chamomile,” Christian replied as he poured the liquid. “It’s good for the nerves.”

Ariana looked at the sky again, “I need that tea.”

“Wait for it to steep first,” Christian chided gently. Once he caused the tea to steep for the required time he handed the cup to Ariana who didn’t hesitate to take a sip, smiling as the liquid ran down her throat.

Christian looked at his mistress with a smile and stood by her side, noticing where Ariana’s eyes were drawn. “Something’s happening,” he said looking intensely at the sky.

Ariana’s eyes narrowed and grew hurt, bowing her head. “I can feel it.”

“They’re acting up again,” Christian’s turquoise blue eyes darted to his mistress, who scowled and smacked her hand on the table top.

“I know, and if the war begins, innocents will die!” Pain flitted through her features, “Already things are happening…” Her mind flickered with images.

“Lord Asa Yuki killed the angel messenger,” remarked Christian looking at Ariana. A slight breeze stirred his tousled straight blond hair.

“So he did,” Ariana digested this piece of news from her butler as her long, straight dark purple hair fluttered in the wind, “I’m on civil terms with both angels and demons,” she mused.

“You were only a baby when they started appearing to you,” counseled the young man.

Fist clenched, Ariana looked to the sky and saw a shiny being flash across the blue and didn’t say anything. She took another sip of tea.

The phone ringing got Christian’s attention. Disappearing and reappearing in the kitchen, he picked up the cordless black phone and spoke, “Hello, Roseanne residence.”

“Um, yes, may I please speak to the head priest and priestess living here?” went a female voice who sounded slightly discombobulated.

“I’m sorry; they’re out on cases right now,” Christian replied smoothly, “however, someone’s here. Would you like to speak with her?” He listened as the voice stammered a yes and made it back outside to the tea table and handed the phone to Ariana who took it from him and held it to her ear, “Hello?”

“Um, hello,” the woman’s voice still sounded dazed from hearing Christian’s voice. Ariana couldn’t help but chuckle quietly. “Are you the person the young man spoke of?”

“I am—I’m the daughter of the head priest and priestess living here. You wanted to speak with me?”

She heard the woman’s sharp intake of breath. “I did. I’m the principal of a private school in town; ghosts may have been hurting the students.”

“I see,” Ariana looked to Christian who was writing on paper. “Have any students gotten hurt?”

The woman got flustered, “No; but there’s been numerous disruptions the ghosts may have caused. I want this matter taken care of,” she finished composed.

“I see,” Ariana repeated looking again at the incredibly handsome young man standing next to her still writing. “Is there anything else?”

“Yes, I’ve hired a few other people before you. They were attacked by entities the first few nights they were there; they’re currently in a hospital, not sure why.” Ariana’s eyes widened. “They’re working on it later when they get things sorted out, but I would like it if you were there too.”

Ariana nodded, “Alright, I’ll look into it. Concerning the pay you can make out the check to the shrine. I’ll tell you the cost later once it’s figured out. Good day,” with a beep of the ‘Off’ button the call ended. Placing the phone on the table she lifted the cup again.

Christian raised one eyebrow as he cleaned the table in front of her. “Lady Ariana, are you going to take this case?”

“Oh I will,” Ariana looked at Christian with her tea cup raised, mouth wearing a playful smile, “once I’ve finished my tea.”
